The Cobb County Association of Educators, a teacher's group that represents about 3,500 educators in the Cobb School District, has made its endorsements in two of the three races on the Cobb Board of Education.

In the Post 6 race to replace Dr. John Crooks, the group has endorsed both Republicans: Scott Sweeney, a technology consultant who has a child at Sope Creek Elementary; and former Dodgen Middle School principal Jim Snell. Chiropractor Ricky Welkis, a Democrat, was not endorsed.

In the Post 4 race to replace Dr. John Abraham, the CCAE has endorsed real estate appraiser Bill Borden over Kell High School mom Kathleen Angelucci, said Gaye Shin, who chairs the CCAE's political action committee.

Shin said they will have an endorsement in the Post 2 race, a seat now held by Holli Cash, later this week. Democrat Patrick Stafford and Republican Tim Stultz are both attempting to oust Cash from the seat.

Meantime, Shin said she has invited the candidates her group has endorsed to attend a training session on how to run a successful campaign for school board.

"We do this to ensure you have all your bases covered to win a campaign," she told them in an e-mail.

Shin said Abraham offered to lead the training session for them.

"It's something he wants to get into when he goes off the board," Shin explained.

Shin is a joke

Ms. Shin you are a joke! I can't say I blame you for trading the integrity of your group for a job but at least call it like it is.

Hollie Cash explained that the citizens of Smyrna were too stupid to know any better (on T.V,)so she has to be their voice.

Question: Where in Smyrna do you live Miss Shin?

Hey Gaye, was Holli able to protect your return to Cobb Schools following the end of your 2 year term as President of the CCAE? Did that factor into the CCAE's endorsement of her? Did this have any impact on endorsements of other candidates. Did you receive any feelers or have any conversations or commmunications with CCSD personnel about the CCAE's endorsements or your return to the classroom? Curiously, despite the break in service time, you weren't one of the under 2 years of service teachers that were rif'd. As Ricky Riccardo would say, "Lucy, you have some splaining to do!"

You might also look into Mr. Borden's mortgage company and the problems involving its disolution. Follow the money.

To: Another Cobb Mom --

I assure you that I have only written the items that bear my name.

As for your statement that Borden is "much better qualified," can you be more specific about what EDUCATIONAL experience Mr. Bill brings to the table? As I have written, and others have recognized, Borden only goes into a classroom when he's being paid to do so. He claims "membership in the PTA" and "Kell Athletic Booster Program" as qualifications for the job. Does anyone ever remember seeing him rise to speak at a board meeting? Ever seen him working with teachers or children (other than those who "donated" to his company)? Ask anyone else on the F&T how many meeting he's attended. Shame, indeed.

And by the way, it's almost a BILLION dollars.

Ask "Dr. Borden" when he passed the bar. You might check with the Sec. of State to get the information. There must be money in the position somewhere for the "Dr." Might have to do with dogs?

Wow, I'm amazed at how many people are cutting down Kathy because she's a "Mom".

Being a real estate agent doesn't qualify Mr. Borden for school board any more than anyone else.

And I'd be VERY careful electing someone who's being backed by "small town politics". The City Of Kennesaw is a MESS with lawsuits all over the place. Kennesaw's mayor is Bill's campaign chair? That alone should be shooting up the red flairs to everybody, no matter what the candidates qualifications are.

It sounds like the same person in Kathy's camp is writing ALL of these comments. They all ring with the same tone of voice. Shame on you! I respect Bill Borden and he has my vote. Much better qualified to manage an almost million dollar budget than a PTA mom.
What a joke!

I am a teacher and it boggles my mind that 3,500 teachers would pay GAE a dime! They don't do anything for teachers, unless you need an attorney. Other than that service, nothing! Shin is a joke. Why would you support one of Abrahams friends and ask Abraham to train candidates? We are getting rid of him and you want him to teach people how to kiss up to Sanderson? Really? Kathleen Angelucci in post 4 has been a long standing advocate of the children and parents. She will be perfect with Alison Bartlett. Teachers-please stop wasting your money because GAE doesn't do anything for us!

Wow-way to go out on a limb by endorsing both candidates in a primary. Looks more like covering your bases.

CCAE had better be careful. Membership is about to decline with continued ingorant & stupid decisions.

I'm only a member for the insurance in the event of a nut-case parent. I disagree with your grandstanding and of your choice of leaders. One of your officer/reps is the most unprofessional teacher that has ever walked in a school. He screams at & ridicules both students & colleagues. Further, you should make sure your "officers" don't slander individual members. I'm quitting because of your lack of credibility.

Anyone paying attention to the other primaries happening in America (like yesterday)? Strong, conservative Republican WOMEN are winning the day. We should continue that momentum here in Cobb County on July 20th.

It's time we have someone who truly represents the citizens of Cobb, rather than special interest, good-ol'-boy cronies like Borden -- hand-picked by Abraham and hand-carried by Mathews, Allegood and Jenkins.

Obviously Borden "got back" to them before press time.
Are you kidding!!!!!

I can not believe that this group has put their support behind a candidate such as Borden. I find that you are so misguided and if he gets elected and you truly represent all the teachers - 3,500 then you get what you deserve. Further more to then endorse Abraham as the trainer makes this even more appalling. Let's call this what it really is - very bad politics and a major conflict of interest on all levels.

Wondering how CCAE became a state group versus a county group?

Secondly, WHY were these candidates endorsed? What made them worthy?

We have more Chiefs and than Indians in CCSD. You should have endorsed Kathy she all about the kids and the teachers. Gaye Shin retire now!

With regards to the Post 2 race, the endorsement will hopefully be for anyone but Ms. Cash.

WOW...why would they even want Abraham to do a "training"????? He is the least respected man on the board. What does that say about the teachers endoresement??? Do your homework people. Why would they endorse Borden over K. Angelucci (who is the best candidate we've had in a long time.) Here we go again...and why does Gay Shin think she's qualified to endorse anyone?

Ms. Shin, your endorsement of Bill Borden does not represent the membership of your group. Mr. Borden is weak candidate and an extension of Dr. Abraham's vote of getting rid of teachers by giving bonus money to principals. Shame on you and the fake process. What did you trade to make this happen? Normal lawyers do not refer to themselves as Dr. Borden even though they hold a J.D. What a fake! p.s. I quit.

Based on their prognostications of the past the CCAE's crystal

ball needs some defogging. Actions don't match the words

of many candidates. Just maybe the best interest of teachers

would be better served if their organization didn't indulge

in these attempts to put political races on the same playing

field as beauty contests.
