I laughed so hard I think I damaged some internal organ. It is called “Come to the USA” and it is a must-see. To date, it has been watched on YouTube by almost three million viewers.
As with most comedy, there is a lot of truth buried beneath the yuks. As Stevens sings in the three-minute video, be careful to choose your nation when choosing illegal immigration.
In this case, don’t sneak into countries like North Korea, Sudan, China , Iran or even Mexico. If you are ever seen again, it might be when you are shot.
Sneak into the USA? Stevens observes in his unique style that we will have lots of goodies for you, including health care, welfare, public housing, food stamps, lots of jobs, employers who’ll turn a blind eye and we’ll send you to school on our dime.
His video is funny and, unfortunately, too true.
What other countries will allow you to enter illegally and reward you for breaking the law? Only the good ol’ USA.
There is nothing to prick the thin skin of the righteous indignant than biting satire and Ray Stevens has delivered a whopping bite.
But after I finished laughing, I suddenly realized that the issue that he parodies so well is a sad commentary on a nation that will allow people into our country illegally and is loathe to do anything to stop it. Even more amazing is that some people will even try to justify it.
All of a sudden, it is not that funny. Oh, the video is hilarious but illegal immigration is no laughing matter.

* The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset "the equilibrium of the national demographics."
* If outsiders do not enhance the country's "economic or national interests" or are "not found to be physically or mentally healthy," they are not welcome. Neither are those who show "contempt against national sovereignty or security." They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care insurance.
I was in the Waffle House (yeah, that's my digs) a few days ago eating breakfast and there is this pregnant Mexican woman with FIVE kids eating in. Each one approximately nine months older than the next.
Yeah, give it some time, like a generation.....
And by the way, don't post sob stories of what it's like living in an immigrant household...go over to Somalia, maybe even give Obambi's brother a visit and you will quickly find that all the stories are far worse.
But like an overloaded boat on the open ocean, one two many on the boat and they all go into the sea.
This country has tremendous pride in what it offers people in terms of our rights and the American dream. Policians are not shy about advertising it to replenish the supply of people to help drive development and the "prosperity" that goes with it. Combine desperate conditions in other countries (especially third world countries) and our humanity with this kind of advertising/ promotion and it's no wonder there are no severe consequences.
But I don't necessarily blame the masses for the short sightedness. I used to feel the same way about the topic until I spent some time with some immigrants...both legal and illegal. The illegal immigrants that I met were not low life killers and drug dealers you see on TV. In fact some of them contribute more to their community than many Americans.
It was an eye opener and I suggest those of you who can barely stand in line for 10 minutes at the DMV go spend 30 days with an immigrant family (yes, along the lines of that TV personality). If you're not going to broaden your horizons, I'd recommend you follow the rule that it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
When illegals move into a neighborhood, school scores drop, the neighborhood is trashed and many other laws are broken by them. Apparently, this is typical behavior in third world countries that they still have allegiance to.
