Robert (Bobby) Eugene Edwards went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on June 6, 2010 after a brief illness. Bobby was born on September 23, 1942 in Tampa, FL. He lived most of his life in the Atlanta area. He graduated from Northside High School in 1960 and attended Young Harris College. He worked for Watts & Browning Engineers, Inc. for most of his working career and retired in 1987. Bobby accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at Atlanta First Baptist Church in 1957. He was a long time member of Wieuca Baptist Church before moving with his mother to Marietta in 2000. He joined Roswell Street Baptist Church in 2009. Bobby enjoyed taking his mother with him to the Sonshiner's Senior Group at his church. He was also an active member of the Adult Singles Sunday School Class. Bobby was a devoted son to his mother, always taking her wherever she needed to go. He is survived by his mother, M. Ophelia Edwards; brother, Thomas A. Edwards; sister-in-law, Marcia Edwards; nieces, Derelle Schaefer and Janelle Nelson; great nieces, Megan Medlock and Mia Nelson; great nephews, Nicolas Nelson and Grant Medlock. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey A. Edwards. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, with Rev. Dr. William Camp officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Sandy Springs. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
