On Saturday evening, friends gathered in the lovely garden of Pat and James Holcomb for a barbecue dinner, music, toasts and a House and Garden Shower. Debbi and Steve Ragsdale, Jackie and Joe Hayes, Nan and Steve Hughes, Nancy and Ron Straughan also hosted the affair.
Among the guests were the bride's sister Jennifer Wood along with Lee Bierce, Heather and Neal Belcher and William, Sandra and G.W. Hill, Amy Hughes, Johnnie Lassiter, Linda LeCroy, Linda and Bill Mayberry, Beth and Mark Mulling, Tom Pratt, and Steven Shaw.
The festivities continued on Sunday afternoon when the Dobbins family including siblings, Elizabeth and David Dobbins and Lynn, Tim and Joe Smith, hosted a Southern-style open house. They welcomed John's friends from Wheeler High School along with the couple's friends from Clemson University. Georgia Peach Champagne punch, cheese straws, wedding cookies and homemade candy were on the menu.
Seventy friends dropped by to meet and greet the newlyweds as they start this new adventure of married life including Patti and Penn Baldwin, Marty and Bob Brendel, Linda and Bob Bonstein, Noah Brendel, Carolyn and Chuck Duncan, Jonathan Gorman, Matt Lineberger, Carol and John Lineberger, Mariann Main, Nancy and Gordon O'Neill, Erin and Kyle Richardson, Tiffany and Chris Thrasher, Rebecca and Clay Thrasher, Susan and Steve Walls.
After the fun-filled weekend, the bride and groom returned home to Greer, S.C.
Dr. Charity Bryan was recently awarded the Vesta R. Bourgeois Endowed Professorship in Health, Physical Education & Recreation from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she is Department Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. Dr. Bryan is the daughter of Patsy Bryan of Marietta.
