Activist blasts Board of Regents ...
Curious One wrote - It appears that the elected and appointed "leaders" of the state and higher education agree that they are in violation of the law, but don't seem to care about enforcing the law.
Watcher wrote - I just remembered why Gov. Sonny is being so kind to the Regents. He wants to be a Regent when his term is up!
Steve Rhinehart wrote - Once again, Sonny has demonstrated his uncanny ability to straddle a fence, and his famous lack of backbone. Pay attention, governor! The colleges and universities being supported by the taxpayers are required by law to deny that public benefit to illegal aliens. Too bad if it is inconvenient for them to take the few minutes required to verify the legality of new admissions, but that is the law. What about the law is it that you do not understand?
Pat H wrote - Is every employee at our colleges just involved in teaching, or are there some that verify admission status? Why would Perdue use the excuse of needing to just educate and not verify? That is hogwash, many other things are verified - name, grades, transfers, etc. These are supposed to be smart people at the universities, they can add another job - check legal status. It is not hard governor, and we the people you are supposed to represent demand legal status be verified.
Hippee wrote - I agree with King! When I was going off to college I had to verify I lived in-state (another state) to get the in-state rate eventhough I graduated from an in-state school. Colleges should verify status! When you are recieving taxpayer dollars you should be able to verify that it is being spent according to the guidelines set forth. If the schools/Regents can't follow those guidelines than the tax payer shouldn't have to either. I vote we stop paying.
Watcher wrote - D.A. King is right on target!
Check status wrote - These illegal students are taking the place of other students who are American or here legally. It is not fair to those who have spent thousands of dollars to come te this country legally. We should be verifying citizenship to keep our children safe while they are at school. Sonny Perdue needs to sit down and shut up!
Yruhere wrote - How many more illegals are there in the Georgia university system, denying citizens admittance? How many have illegally obtained financial aid that could have gone to legal citizens? It's just the tip of a very big iceberg. The Board of Regents must have verification of every applicant. If an investigation shows that Kennesaw State University President Dr. Dan Papp aided illegal students with taxpayer money, he should be charged and tried, and fired with no pension or health benefits.
FlagLoverWestCobb wrote - Mr. King: stop the hate in Cobb and Georgia! You are an embarrassment to all citizens of Cobb and Georgia. Who Would Jesus Deport?
Frankie58 wrote - I too have read the statutes the DA King has referenced, and as he has stated and it's very clear, federal law prohibits illegals from attending our States colleges and universities that receive federal funding, which I believe is almost all of them. When is the Attorney General going to do his job and initiate a state wide investigation of the University System? The Coloti case has opened the "Pandora's Box" and a majority of Georgians are fed up with what is really coming to light within this state concerning illegals, not legal immigrants and visa holders, receiving benefits and programs to which they are not entitled to receive.
Marie in Marietta wrote - King for governor.
Around Town: 'No Comprende!' ...
JMWS wrote - I read the MDJ everyday and I've yet to see any comments from our Democrat candidates for Governor regarding the Colotl situation. Would someone from your paper please try to get a statement from Barnes or Baker? Barnes doesn't even list illegal immigration as one of the state's pressing issues on his website.
Rich Pellegrino wrote - It appears that the editors and columnists have descended to the rank of schoolyard bullies. You likely won't print this because bullies hate to be called out. You are going after our kids, our promising youth. Believe me, that is your undoing as the youth are mobilizing and that will be the beginning of the end just as it was for the bigots of days past. Keep it up - as the same fate of schoolyard bullies will befall you and those you are attacking will prevail.
Pat wrote - Wow, Rich, you are threatening those that want to follow the law. Who really is the bully! Look in the mirror! Last time I looked, law-abiding citizens win - sounds to me like you want to change that!
Indian Joe wrote - Rich, are you making terroristic threats? Maybe our good sheriff needs to check up on you. If what you say is true, all the more reason to round em up and ship em out. We have enough problems with hom grown terrorists without these illegals causing more problems than they already have economically.
Curious One wrote - With every KSU PR release, every staff letter to the editor, every statement, every denial of public information, and every action in the Coloti Case, you are digging a deeper hole ! Man up and face it, KSU has illegal students receiving taxpayer subsidized ($8,000 per year) in-state tuition and KSU executive leadership is mismanageing the mess.
Jaraysi agrees to finish building or demolish it ...
MK it's sad! wrote - Agreed, most of Cobb is becoming a run-down eyesore. Lack of leadership and vision. I never thought I would want to move Gwinnett, but it's looking better all the time! When is the last time anything built in Cobb made ya go, "Oh wow, cool, look @ that!" Can't remenber.
Mad-one wrote - Yea right. Promises, promises, promises. Jayrasi wins another round at the expense of the city.
TooFunny wrote - What a joke. This mess has dragged on for five years, and every time this guy gets a deadline from the city, he manages to worm out of it and get a new one. I can't wait to see what's sitting on that site come November.
Truth hurts wrote - Ha! Yeah its an eyesore, but the rest of Franklin Road is all roses.

These invaders are so devoid of principles, they think and hope we do not realize their fight should be directed at their own government who drives them out of their own country like dumb cattle to the care of the U.S. taxpayers. A people of courage and principles would not allow millions with families to be exported like cattle to another country to pillage and rob like thieves...only to afford the MANY "Carlos Slim" types in Mexico a free ride.
The truth leaves most of you speechless with your only tool being to cry "racism". Sorry...that card is way over used. It is worn thin and we now can see through it.
