MARIETTA - A west Cobb man has been indicted on 45 counts of terroristic threats after authorities say he threw or shot objects at vehicles in the vicinity of John Ward Road and Hamlin Drive.

Charles Samuel Lewis, 52, was released on $25,000 bond shortly after his arrest in early April. A Cobb County grand jury returned an indictment on the felony charges this week.

The charges against Lewis date back to 2008, said Cobb Police spokesman Joe Hernandez.

According to the arrest warrant, Lewis was driving his GMC pickup northbound on John Ward Road about 9:30 p.m. on April 5 when he shot or threw an object into the windshield of an oncoming car. The victim and his passenger chased Lewis while calling 911 and Marietta Police stopped Lewis's truck, according to the warrant.

A woman who answered the telephone at Lewis's home on Arbor Forest Court on Friday afternoon said he had no comment.

In recent years there have been multiple reports of moving vehicles hit or struck by such objects in the vicinity of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. The April 5 incident occurred just west of the Cheatham Hill section of the park.

check out the Cobb County Court Dockets online - seems that Mr. Lewis' bond was just revoked because of drugs and alcohol. Interesting....

How about 45 counts of attempted murder? If he is convicted, he should never have the opportunity to do it again. If I'm on the jury, he will get the maximum penalty allowed and yes, I am in favor of the death penalty.

If I was a victim and he is found guilty, I would definitely look at recovering damages.

A while back I got my windshield smashed in on Whitlock/Dallas Hwy. It didn’t cross my mind until reading this story and all the comments that it could have been a person throwing objects at cars. A friend of mine told me a story about driving down John Ward in the AM to take the dogs to the park when his car got hit. He was lucky not to get injured or killed by the projectile. He said it was an object from a tap and die set that may have been shot with some type of air powered gun. Hopefully the police have enough evidence to solve this mystery.

I was hit twice in a three month period. After speaking to the detectives about this case, I have no doubt that this man is guilty. I feel sorry for his family and friends. I can tell you that the second time I was hit I was terrified, not to mention having my car in the shop for weeks having extensive damage repaired. I really hope that this man is found guilty on every count in this indictment. The only thing that would make it better would be if they could have indicted him on every single case, not just forty-five.

Quote "This man is not guilty"

So which relative of his are you ?

Do you have a single piece of EVIDENCE that

a - Shows his Innocence

OR

b - explains the circumstances the resulted in his arrest ?

Even the nicest loving father and grandfather can have a road-rage attack... maybe he's tired of all the traffic on John Ward Rd.

I got my windshield smashed last summer heading to Marietta on Dallas Hwy not 1/4 mile pass John Ward,,,,It came from what I believe was a silver Chevrolet or GMC pick up at 5:50 am that I met coming from Marietta. I called Cobb County and made a report but haven't heard anything since,,,Hope they throw the book at who ever did this,,,,P.S. I cling to my guns and my religion,,,don't know why anyone would bring politics into this,,,,

He is facing 45 counts, not one. So, he must have said something to the police during questioning. Believe it or not, grand juries do not return an indictment unless they feel there is sufficient evidence. But, that's why we have jurys.

A couple of commenters are quick to insist the police have the wrong man, even though they weren't there, but a victim/eyewitness thought quickly enough to follow the vehicle and notify police. This happened to me in the same location a couple of years ago, right after a pickup truck passed me on John Ward in the opposite direction. Because I wasn't expecting anything like this, and it was dark, I could not afterward offer a detailed description of the truck. So I hope they have the right person, and evidently both the police and the grand jury seemed to think so.

And G. Lewis, what does this have to do with politics? You're an idiot.

This man is not guilty. He is good person. Hard worker. Loves his family and friends and does not have a mean bone in his body. The police are jut trying to pin this on him cause they can't find the real guilty person. I think they need to be working harder at their job than blaming innocient people.

My daughter was driving to school one morning 2 years ago and was a victim of this man. Her windsheild was shattered and she was frightened. The same thing happened to one of her teachers that same morning. We hope to testify at his trial. We are all happy that no one was seriously hurt.

This is a bunch of garbage, this man respects his and other peoples property entirely too much to do something like this. Cobb county has been too lazy to actually try and find the real person at fault, so they blame the first person they come across. the Detectives have watched too much CSI and don't know what they are doing. This man is a hard worker, father and grandfather. Why would he do something like this to risk all of that? Besides, wouldn't it be noticed if someone shot out of a window will driving, gun shot residue on hands, in truck, the "victim" seeing a gun being fired or evne the people living in the vacinity hearing the shot. Some low life probably had a busted up car and wanted something for free, most likely and Obama supporter.
