DEAR EDITOR: Re: Story, "Traffic stop puts KSU student in jail as illegal immigrant," Saturday's MDJ

I was absolutely outraged that you felt the story of Jessica Coloti, who had been here illegally for 14 years, was worthy of front page coverage! She finally got caught. Send her back to Mexico. She is breaking the law by being here, just as I would be breaking the law if I robbed a bank, sold drugs or any other illegal activity that would "give me a better life." As with most criminals, I would be sent to prison when caught, just as illegal immigrants should be punished when they are caught and returned to the countries from which they came.

The influx of illegals has "dumbed-down" our education system, ruined our property values here in my area of Cobb County, caused financial hardship for our hospitals and destroyed the quality of life we once enjoyed and worked very hard to obtain. These are just a few of the long list of negative results their being here has caused.

The Hispanic protests should be ignored, or used as the perfect time to arrest a large number of illegals and get them deported. I certainly don't get what I want by creating chaos and claiming to be "entitled" to something because I am "human."

This insanity has got to stop and we have to reclaim our country and enforce the laws that are intended to protect the American citizens, and America, from this type invasion!

I am a naturalized citizen and agree with all the comments that she should be returned and then she can start the process for citzenship. What truely angers me is that from the President of the University to her friends all justify her illegal activity. I further angers me that "legal" citzens have to compete against an illegal for entrance too the state university system! Who was denied admission because KSU allowed an illegal to apply and enter the taxpayer supported institution. KSU President ought to be ashame!

If I am not mistaken this girl was a pre-law student - and wanted to be an attorney. What part of the class did she miss when they talked about the constitution - illegals, citizenship, etc. And how in the world did she think she would be admitted to the bar if she is not a US citizen - oh, but I forgot seems our president was able to do so - and hide all of his information. But this is absolutely ridiculous - she may have been a child when she came here, but what prevented her from seeking citizenship and from her family doing the same. This carries about the same logic as people today having to pay because our great-great-great-great grandparents might have been slave owners - since she was a child when she was brought here ILLEGALLY, she should be excused. Where is accountability, responsibility, and while we are at it, was she receiving any kind of aid for her college education, how much in taxes has her family paid in almost 20 years? Let's cover all fo the facts

University students are supposed to be intelligent. What steps toward legalization is this student pursuing? Does this student know that she will have trouble finding work as long as she is illegally in the U.S? Where is the thought process of reason?

Why are the illegals from Mexico and Central American given such protected status? We don't need any more landscapers, we can't afford to subsidize them.

The media has played a kuge role in aiding the illegal invasion of this country and allowing it to continue., by NOT reporting the truth!! Guess when civil war breaks out & Americans die to protect this land, the media will continue to report on these poor , innocent people that have come here, just to work. Oh, as they break all of our laws, steal identities, milk our system & march in our streets to bend & reshape the laws of this land, (just for them)-- the media will continue to report them as poor , innocent victims! Wake up media,... & report what's really going on!! Americans are the victims here!!!

I agree that people should not come to this country illegally, but let's not forget that Shelia was a young child and came with her parents. I am absolutely sure that these children do not sit at homes in Mexico saying let's move to the USA where I do not speak any english, put me in a school where I cannot communicate, even to tell someone I am scared, let me learn english on my own with no help from my spanish speaking parents. Please please stop blaming the children, this young lady who is turning out to be a respectful young lady should be given the chance to be legal at the very least. Stop persecuting the children, as they should not be punished for their parents actions.
