Cuisine on the Run is a culinary treasure tucked away in Paper Mill Village, located at 255 Village Parkway, Suite 760, in east Cobb. Located at the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Paper Mill Road, Cuisine on the Run specializes in "to-go" meals.

Friends of owner Leah Gordon always requested her chicken salad made of shredded chicken, toasted pecans, red grapes, celery and special seasoning.

"I was always the one bringing chicken salad to luncheons and other functions," she said.

With the encouragement of friends, Leah started selling her chicken salad and old-fashioned pimento cheese at the Marietta Farmers Market on the Square in 2007.

"I'm kind of an entrepreneur at heart," Leah said.

After forgetting her chilling bowl at the first farmers market, Leah sent her husband home to retrieve it. "By the time (Stu) returned, I had already sold out of 10 pounds of chicken salad," she said.

With consistent repeat business, Leah decided to open her storefront, Cuisine on the Run. She continues to sell at local farmers markets, including Marietta Farmers Market on Saturday mornings and Paper Mill Village on Thursday afternoons, as well as markets in Roswell, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.

COTR offers fresh soups, salads and gourmet sandwiches daily. Although the emphasis of the storefront is to-go orders, limited outdoor seating is available.

COTR also offers take-home specialties including Leah's famous chicken salad and pimento cheese. Other specialties available are artisanal breads, Costa's Pasta flash frozen pasta dinners, ready-to-bake casseroles by Kasserole King along with gourmet jellies and jams, pickles and other distinctive items made by quality vendors from local farmers markets.

"I want to be able to accommodate moms and people," Leah explained.

Another tasty solution for the busy cook is Leah's SunGoat Pesto, a scrumptious blend of sundried tomatoes, homemade pesto and goat cheese. Placing in the top finals of Flavors of Georgia, the pesto jazzes up any pasta, fish and chicken dish. "It's also great with a baguette and glass of wine. It's just real versatile," she said.

Offering specialties that will delight the taste buds while making life a little easier, COTR is not your average place.

"We can't do it all, but what we do I want it to be (of) quality," Leah said.

Cuisine on the Run is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Products are also available in Cobb County at Burger's Market, located at 1395 Canton Road in Marietta and Farmer John's Produce, located at 3810 Due West Road in Kennesaw.

Leah: I paid my first visit to your store yesterday after "accidentally" coming across it tucked away in Paper Mill Village. Wow! Let me assure you that it won't be my last visit and I will tell my friends and neighbors where to find you. Everything you (and Jeannie) make is absolutely scrumptious! Yum...yum!
