I hope Arizona hangs tough on their illegal immigration law which has liberals in a swivet. (San Francisco held a protest march condemning Arizona’s new law as a part of their annual May Day worker’s rights demonstration. That tells you about all you need to know.)

In fact the new Arizona law authorizes police to ask about immigration status only in the course of "lawful contact" such as a traffic stop or apprehension for another suspected crime, and only if the police have "reasonable suspicion" that someone stopped may be an illegal immigrant. That is what has the liberal weenies hysterical. They want to conjure up images of Nazi jackboots hauling innocent people out of their homes. That’s bunk. Arizona is trying to enforce a law that the federal government won’t.

Good for them.

The feds won’t do anything about illegal aliens because both Democrats and Republicans covet the Hispanic vote – however they can get it.

Here in Cobb County, Kennesaw State University student, Jessica Colotl, 21, was stopped by campus police recently and found to have been here illegally. Colotl is an “undocumented citizen” who has lived in the U.S. since she was seven. Her parents came to Atlanta illegally in 1996 from Mexico and will probably be headed back there if the law is enforced as it should be.

I’m sorry for her plight but she and her parents knew the possible consequences of their actions. They had plenty of time to apply for citizenship in the United States. In the meantime, she will most likely be made a “victim” for knowingly breaking the law. That, too, is bunk. We should either enforce the law or change it.

I hope next year’s Legislature will quit worrying about microchips in our body parts and hauling home the dead bears we hit with our cars and look at toughening our own immigration laws and nailing the businesses that take advantage of cheap and illegal labor.

In the meantime, hang tough Arizona. If San Francisco is against you, you must be doing something right.

I am in complete agreement with Dick Yarbrough. In my opinion you are not what you say you are. You are probably Pellegrino's alter ego.

There are more American's with Amerind blood in them than there flies in a horse barn.

I am partially Amerind.

I am also short and at one time, very dark. I was taken out of line at Heathrow airport by three evry tough Brits. They actually frisked me, asked me for proof of ID, which I had already given when I checked in. Typical Brit, apologies after and I said--"No problem, I know my flight will be safe".

So get off your whine, suck it up. It's for America.

I say Buycott Arizona. Go out of your way to buy Arizona products, vacation there, etc. And avoid San Francisco, Boston, LA. I am about ready to advocate a separation of states; let California and New York go. Live the liberal, anything goes lifestyle. See where it gets you. Hint: Have you seen Greece lately?

Mr.Yarbrough --you have proven to all young people that bullying is ok by your statements and stance, for these antiquated and draconian measures are nothing but state enshrined bullying--just like 'Jim Crow' was in the past. Believe me, and I hope that our elected officials and law enforcement agencies are listening--these bullying laws will never be enforced without a major disruption of life (non-violent civil disobedience) for all who support them--just as we disrupted the lives of George Wallace, Bull Conner, and the bullies of the past--until sanity and righteousness wins out as it always does. We are about to shut down Arizona financially and will do the same to GA if necessary--this is not a threat but a promise. As for the word "illegal" if you apply it to anyone you must first look in the mirror as every ethnic group and population came to this country illegally so take the mote out of your own eyes and stop bullying my people.
Enforce our laws

We need to enforce the immigration laws we currently have. Kennesaw State University has a history of covenant for illegal immigrants. They receive grants and attend college on the dime of Georgia Tax payers.

Im guess I am more legal than you all are, It was all of your illegal fathers fathers father who took my country, I mean they did give me a mountain in NC. to live. So i guess the way I feel is you all are drop babies from illegal immigrants, and I can assure you with the color of my skin and my hair I will not drive through the state of Arizona this Columnist is so high on keeping strong on a law that would check me for my status based on what I look like. Lets keep it real Im a full blooded cherokee and if you and I are in the car together whos going to get checked for status? and is this due to my skin color?

roguey:

This young lady is 21 years-old. If she didn't do it between the ages of 7 and 18, she certainly continued to break the law after she turned 18!

It is not stupid to deport an illegal alien - it is the right thing to do. She is a criminal.

How small is your view. You have NO IDEA,how many people are here, without having a choice but to go with their parents, or with their husbands, and have no say so about their own lives.May be they were kids, who had to come with their parents, and now are here illegal. How can a seven year old child tell their parents whats right or wrong????? Or,the husband is gone, and they are left with kids behind, that are born here, and have to feed them without being able to have a right to work.

Let's change the law, and close the border, too many innocent people are suffering already, and have to live in fear day in and out. This is a country of immigrants, and not every one has the education, or means of knowkledge to make a wrong right. Help the one that are here, and close the border, until you have A PLAN that works.

Appart from being cruel and unfair to punish soemone for something they didn't do, it's plain stupid to deport a young, inteligent person who is about to graduate.
