Clifford Andrew Porter, 87, passed away on April 25, 2010 in Marietta, GA. He was born on June 9, 1922 in Toccoa, GA to the late John Henry Porter and Maggie Lee Daniel Dunson Porter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Alyce. Clifford was a devoted family man who, since early childhood, worked to provide for those he loved. Clifford and Alyce married in July of 1942, and just 4 months later he left for 3 years to serve in World War II. Clifford served honorably in Patton's 3rd Army in the North Africa campaign, and participated in the invasions of Italy and Austria. Clifford returned home to Alyce in 1945. They started a family and, pursuing a lifelong affinity with mechanics, Clifford began a career with Capital Cadillac that would last more than 35 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast who never missed a Braves game or Nascar Sunday. After retiring, Clifford and Alyce pursued their hobby by opening "Father Time Gallery" and embraced their faith by becoming founding members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Clifford was a loving husband, proud father, adoring grandfather, cherished family member and loyal friend who will be dearly missed. Clifford is survived by his daughter Judith Porter Hosch of Marietta, GA; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Julie Porter of Marietta, GA; grandson Kirk Hosch of Marietta, GA; grandson Alex Hosch of Nashville, TN; granddaughter Paige Porter (Clint) Bailey of Canton, GA; granddaughter Brynn Porter (Joe) Warras of Atlanta, GA; and great grandsons Mason and Bowen Sommer. Visitation will be held at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068 on Thursday, April 29 at 2pm. Funeral services will follow at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church at 3pm.
