Did anyone else take the kids to see They Might Be Giants down in Little Five Points on Saturday afternoon? What did you think? My son and I, along with friends from Roswell went, and I thought it was a great show. It may be the only rock concert I've been to where my clothes don't reek of smoke afterward, which is a plus in itself.

If you're not familiar with TMBG, let me do a bit of a promo (purely because I love them so much). These two guys, both named John, have been performing since 1982. Back then, the Grammy-award winning songwriters had songs on MTV like "Istanbul" and "Particle Man." The songs are wordy, fast and funny.

Awhile back, they started writing/performing kids songs. Their albums "No!" and "Here come the ABCs" are very popular in my house because of the catchy lyrics, which are funny and educational. (Sing it with me -- Don't cross the street in the middle, in the middle, in the middle of the block!)

They have a new album out called "Science is Real," which I picked up at the show, and already my son and I are singing "the sun is a mass of incandescant gas..." though we haven't yet gotten all the way through the disc. Other titles are "Cells," "Solid Liquid Gas" and "Photosynthesis."
