DEAR EDITOR: Re: Letter by Cobb school board member David Banks, "School calendar bill usurps local boards' authority," Feb. 28 MDJ

According to David Banks, state Reps. Matt Dollar and Judson Hill are forcing school calendar changes on all of Georgia instead of relying on the elected local school boards to make the decisions for which they were voted into office to do. Interesting, considering that several Cobb County school board members were elected on a platform against a balanced calendar, but then voted for the balanced calendar once they were in office.

The voters did speak their mind, but were ignored. When parents went to complain about the change in their elected representatives, a security guard was called in to stop the voters from speaking! Is this how the Cobb County school board listens to their voters? There is even a recall effort in place for one of the school board members. This is the outcry from voters who thought their best interests were being served when they voted in the current Cobb school board. The voters were ignored.

It's remarkable that David Banks, who is on the Cobb County School Board, complains about the powers above him ignoring the local school boards.

Yes, isn't it remarkable? His latest newsletter was just more of the same. Just another "yes" man for the lovely CCSB.

The voters are the powers above Mr. Banks. He works for us! Voters put him there and voters need to remove Mr. Banks.

To quote Barney, "We can do this - yes we can!"
