SMYRNA - Authorities found about 1.4 pounds of processed marijuana and 17 whole marijuana plants while searching a Smyrna home on Feb. 26, according to a report from Smyrna Police.

Jonathan Otto Early, 39, of Smyrna, and Robert Scott Smith, 51, of Cartersville, were arrested for the cultivation of marijuana and booked into Cobb County Jail. Both posted $10,000 bonds and were released, according to jail records.

Smyrna police estimate the street value of the marijuana to be $92,000.

According to Smyrna authorities, police received a tip on Feb. 15 from the public of a "strong odor of marijuana" in the area of Oakdale Road. Officers pinpointed the odor and began a roughly two-week investigation.

On Feb. 26, officers executed a search warrant at a house Smith owns, at 5228 Oakdale Road, where they found the indoor grow operation, police said.

According to jail records, Early was arrested at the Smyrna Police Department on Feb. 27, while Smith was arrested Tuesday at the Cobb County Jail visitation center. Phone calls and e-mails to Smyrna Police on Thursday requesting further arrest details went unreturned as of press time.
