EDITOR'S NOTE: Below is a selection of responses shared by readers of MDJOnline.com in reaction to recent MDJ stories ...

No penalty for teen busted at party ...

Another West Cobber wrote - We all know that if you know the "right" people, your chances of not having consequences for such behavior are greater. Maybe this kid will somehow learn how to make better choices in spite of the adults in his life who make excuses and exceptions for him.

Animal Farm wrote - Just like George Orwell wrote it. Napoleon said "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. "Wouldn't it be nice to be so special that a judge and prosecutor refuse to apply the law to you?

West Cobber wrote - This is getting better than any Soap Opera or Reality Show. A person can't make up this stuff up. Thanks, MDJ for keeping on, keeping on. I saw John Wiles on the 11 p.m. news last night, boy does body language talk. Guilty. I think Nancy Grace ought to get a hold of this. Thank you, Kim Isaza for bring this story to light. It seems we caught a group of respected Cobb leaders with their "pants on the ground."

Mariettathinker wrote - In order to be caught drinking alcohol as a minor, your drinking has to be coupled with poor decision-making: either driving with it, or partying loud enough to attract the police. If this happens to you more than once during these years, you have a problem with alcohol and making decisions. You deserve to have a misdemeanor ding on your record, and the public deserves to have your problem addressed before you enter young adulthood and have even less supervision.

Incredulous wrote - There won't be many comments to this article. I think we've all been rendered completely speechless. Gotta go pick up my jaw from the floor.

High court judge puts school artificial turf on hold ...

Scary wrote - I may or may not be a fan of the turf but this is scary and wrong, that one man can stop the desires and vote of the public. It seems to me there is not a single SPLOST project that is now safe. The judge should support the desires of the people, not one individual who has issues with the school district on all accounts. The judge is wrong.

Football Bullies wrote - Why are my tax dollars going to pay for football fields? Why don't the football players and fans pay for it?

FIRGI wrote - How sad that short-sighted individuals like Pete Borden and Tom Harper should be able to prevent progress that would so benefit Cobb County Schools. I wonder if these men would feel differently if they had band students attending a Cobb County High School who worked their tails off during rehearsals all week long only to be denied the opportunity to perform their shows at football halftimes because the field is ankle-deep in mud and too dangerous to the students. Denying students these opportunities is going backward, not forward. Sad.

Football booster wrote - Coach Sanderson is breaking my heart. Can't we please stop all the other spending on schools and put domes over these fields? That is what I pay taxes for! The thought of a high school kid getting muddy playing football is killing me. You selfish whiners shut up about your "educational" needs and put out some serious tax money for this turf. Thank God Coach Sanderson has his priorities right. It is about time my kid's math teacher took them out on the field to practice football instead of algebra!

WestCobber wrote - With the following statement: "The defense submitted 19 affidavits to the court, 16 from each Cobb high school principal and three from district leaders, citing the benefits of the turf and stating that the fields would be used at least seven hours a day for various educational purposes," I'm wondering if they would commit to a statement that test scores would improve if artificial turf was installed. I suspect that they would not! I'm totally confused why all these athletic directors, coaches and principals let all our Cobb County football fields get into a state of "disrepair or are unusable." For all these years we have been letting our athletics and students use such unfit fields. Shame on them for allowing this - seems like a disregard of safety issues to me. But of course we know that's pretty much a sham statement anyway. Along with the statement from Mr. Sanderson that it's going to cost more with having to wait 30 days. I thought they said they were getting great deals on this turf to begin with.

Tired of this wrote - I thought the taxpayers voted on this months ago. How would anyone have the right to change or delay the vote of the citizens? (School board attorney Glenn) Brock, when are you going to win one?

Tea Partier wrote - The men who tax your basic necessities to buy fake grass for their football player sons are the same ones sucking the life out of this country. They believe your hard in money is theirs to use for their children's hobby. Throw them out.

This is simply about a vote that didn't go the way the "few" wanted it!<<

That's right Come on. It's just a bit of sour grapes "'cause the other team won". Either you don't pay Cobb taxes or are not tuned in enough to realize when you are being victimized by deceitful (I am being polite) elected officials.

That said...it was stunning that only 10% of Cobb voters turned out to give their input when it came time to vote on SPLOST. For some reason people don't seem to understand that the school board is the organ that has the most impact on how high our county tax bill is.

Wake up Cobb voters! You have given a bunch of stunt monkeys the key to your pocket book!

This is simply about a vote that didn't go the way the "few" wanted it! If you dont vote dont complain! I noticed that all the attack are about Football. These fields are used for more that 5 football games a year or there would be no need for them.
