MARIETTA - Frank Robinson, the Lassiter High School guidance counselor and basketball coach accused of inappropriately touching a 17-year-old female student, will return to work in Cobb County School District on Monday morning.

Jay Dillon, district spokesman, said Friday that Robinson was reassigned to Kennesaw Mountain High School. The counselor, who was supposed to return to school Feb. 16, had been waiting to hear from the district to be reassigned to a new school because his bond condition did not allow him to return to Lassiter.

Cobb Police arrested Robinson on Dec. 19 and charged him with sexual battery. He still faces that misdemeanor charge in state court. However, the school board voted 4-2 last week to reinstate Robinson, after a tribunal of three school board members, with one member dissenting, found insufficient evidence to fire Robinson.

"He will fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a school counselor," Dillon said of Robinson's new position at Kennesaw Mountain. "He'll sit down Monday morning with the principal and area superintendent and they will figure out what that will involve."

Robinson could not be reached for comment Friday evening. However, his attorney, Warren Fortson of Atlanta, said he was delighted to hear of Robinson's reinstatement.

"I can't speak for him, but I'm sure he'll do a good job no matter where they put him," Fortson said. "And again, I'm just sorry he wasn't put back at Lassiter."

As for Robinson's criminal case, Fortson said he spoke to the district attorney's office on Friday morning and they said they were reviewing all of the information from the school board's tribunal hearing.

Fortson said he felt confident that the criminal charges on Robinson would be dropped.

"I feel quite sure they'll drop the charges," the attorney said. "The man hasn't done anything; the evidence shows he hasn't done anything."

Solicitor General Barry Morgan said Wednesday that Robinson's arraignment was originally set for Friday, but has been postponed to April 19 because of the continuing investigation. State Court Judge Toby Prodgers will preside over the arraignment, at which time Robinson can enter a plea. The judge will also set the trial date.

Robinson has been out on paid leave since he was arrested.

You people are stupid. Frank Robinson is innocent, everyone at Lassiter knows this. The only reason he is not back at Lassiter is because of a technicality.

Especially you John C. Calhoun. You believe he did it based on what? Lemme take a guess. Nothing.

Leave your knee-jerk reactions at the door people, you are all officially making Cobb County stupider by living here.

Unbelievable! What could the Cobb County School Board possibly do next???? Glad my daughter is no longer at KMHS; in fact, I'm really glad my kids are graduating and will be out from under the "wisdom" of this School Board.

ok, so this "counselor" gets charged with sexual battery & nomatter what the school board says his attitude is still questionable. so, we choose this, "so called school board", to help us get people like this out and what they do is take them out of 1 school and put him another! wow! well, i just want to say how sorry i feel for kenesaw high school, and i pray that parents take a stand and make sure this man leaves this state permanently! Parents, together we stand!!!

Once the charges are dropped, I would start with a lawsuit against Shaw and then proceed to the girl who made up this story because she did not make the team. Hope everyone has great lawywers including Hollie Cash.

The ones who should be watching out are the male teachers at the girl's new high school. Obviously nobody believed her story and the DA is now stuck with her testimony at the tribunal. Case dismissed.

Congratulations to Kennesaw Mountain High School. You are so lucky to be getting such an outstanding counselor at your school. You have no idea what a fine human being Frank Robinson is.....He will be such as asset to you school. I feel sorry for Lassiter High School for their loss ....Coach Robinson made such a difference for that school. Too bad they didn't lose Principal Chris Shaw...He has done more to ruin the school culture and learning environment than anyone can imagine.

Watch out, Kennesaw Mountain parents. Starting Monday, your daughter's new counselor is out on bail for sexual battery on a female student. He can't go back to Lassiter, but he's safe enough for Kennesaw?

This is absolutely unbelievable! I can't believe this school board is actually putting this guy back around kids while he's still out on bail for a sex offense against a student. KMHS parents should be outraged and demanding a recall of the board members behind this bizarre decision. If Robinson worked at a bank and was out on bail for embezzlement, would the bank's board of directors let him go back to work in the vault? Heck no. Then why should we have him back around our children???
