MARIETTA - Franklin Road saw more violence early Sunday when masked men shot and robbed two other men.
The first shooting occurred at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday, when two Hispanic men wearing blue bandannas to hide their faces attempted to rob Fernando Lopez of Marietta in front of the Flagstone Village Apartments at 849 Franklin Road.
Lopez, who was shot multiple times as he escaped to call police, is reportedly in stable condition at Kennestone Hospital, said Marietta Police Officer Michael Gardner.
Just 20 minutes later, a half-mile down Franklin Road behind the El Cuate nightclub, two men also wearing blue bandannas attempted to rob three other Hispanic men. One of the victims, Manuel Gustamante of Cartersville, was shot and taken to Grady Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
In both cases, the suspects fled on foot.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Daniel Ohmann at (770) 794-5372.
In December, police arrested three men and two women in connection with a double homicide that occurred in the Las Colinas complex at 861 Franklin Road.
