Rev. Wiley Butler, 86 of Dallas died Friday, February 5, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Pumpkinvine Baptist Church in Dallas with Rev. Brad Benson and Rev. George Barnett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Dallas. Rev. Butler was born in Dallas, Georgia and married Nancy Cole in December of 1944. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1945. Rev. Butler was ordained as a minister on November 6, 1955. He served as pastor at the following eight Baptist churches: Macedonia, McPherson, Mt. Olivet, Bethlehem, Corner, Portal and Zion View. Rev. Butler was Interim Pastor for Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia and retired as Associate Pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in 2009. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Nancy Cole Butler of Dallas; two daughters, Tonya Eady of Luthersville, GA; Rhonda Hulsey Braly of Dallas; one sister, Evelyn Lucille Hulsey of Tampa FL; one grandson, Daniel Braly; one granddaughter, Jessica Sorrells; three great granddaughters, Alexis, Alyssa, Audrey and one great grandson, Andrew. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Pumpkinvine Baptist Church in Dallas on Saturday, February 6th. Reverend Butler baptized me as a 10 year old @ Corner Baptist Church. I am now 50 years old and if I close my eyes, I can still hear him preaching and see him wipe his brow.
