Mr. David Lee Melton, age 18, 380 Sarsen Trail, NW, Marietta, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, January 15, 2010. He was born in Floyd County on January 3, 1992 and is the son of Daniel Clifford Melton and the former Jerry Ann Loveless. Mr. Melton was a student at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta and had begun his third quarter of study on January 4. He also was working part-time for Cobb EMC in Marietta. David had graduated from the Youth Challenge Academy at Fort Stewart, GA with the rank of Cadet Sergeant in June, 2009, where he received his GED and 2 academic scholarships to attend college. He was of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his biological mother, Kim Lynette Nestor, by his maternal grandparents, Hubert and Thelma Loveless, by his paternal grandfather, Clifford Melton, and by his biological grandparents, Arnold Lee and Betty Ruth Loveless. Survivors include his parents, Dan and Jerry Ann Melton, Marietta; a brother, Travis Melton, and his wife, Alana, Marietta; a sister, Mrs. Nicole Johnson, and her husband, Kyle, Piggott, Arkansas; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Melton, Rome; a niece, Lillian Grace Melton, Marietta; a nephew, Landon Blake Johnson, Piggott, Arkansas; aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave McLucas officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12 noon until the funeral hour. The family may be contacted at their respective homes at other times. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.

I am just now learning of this loss....I am so very sorry and know how much you all did for David.....I'm so thankful he knew the Lord and we will see him again......many thoughts and prayers coming your way.....Pam, Joel, Keyla & Kyle

David was like a brother of mine, We have had our ups and our downs but we got along like we had known each other for a long time i miss him alot and i wish i had known sooner about what was going on but noone told me anything its like they kept it from me but You can contact me at 4784751408 id like the truth and the whole truth on how my long lost brother died, i cant sleep at night nor eat cause i dont know how he passed away some tell me he died of lung cancer others say he died of heart trouble please for me call and tell me about my brother and tell me how he died it would take some stress off me Thanks COurtney
