Margaux Nicolas, who feels it's her mission in life to save the Earth, celebrated her eighth birthday on Jan. 10 with a Save the Earth Party.
The second-graders enjoyed crafts with recycled materials including pinecone bird feeders, magazine bead bracelets and draft critters from used tights, rice and felt. Rotation groups for the craft centers represented wind, water and sun, forms of renewable energy.
An enormous gluten-free "Save the Earth" cake made to Margaux's exact specifications was served along with healthy snacks. Goodie bags made with reusable shopping bags were filled with gummy worms, a book of other craft ideas with recycled materials, a craft kit to do at home and all the fun things made at the party.
In lieu of gifts, children made donations to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Merrymakers included: Brother Remy Nicolas, Emma Clonts, Mila Coleman, Kiely Gilbert, Anna Goeppner, Gabby Harwell, Alexandria and Holden Lennon, Kira Pardue, Anya Schroff and Kalieann Wetherington.
