DEAR EDITOR:
Saturday evening, my family and I spent an absolutely delightful evening at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre. It was the first year anniversary from the completion of renovation and the celebration was a class act.

Most of the shows at the theatre are preceded by organ music courtesy of Ron Carter. His playing is well worth one attending. The performers are awesome and they give 110 percent. They are so talented and they will truly lift your spirit.

The Earl Smith Strand hosts a variety of shows. I urge you to attend. You will not be disappointed! The shows are great, the atmosphere is great, the theater is beautiful and through the excellent management of Earl Reece you will feel so welcomed there. I hope the citizens of Cobb (and surrounding counties) will make every effort to do what they can to support the future success of the Earl Smith Strand Theatre.

Kim, your $1,000 donation was a donation. It doesn't give you the right to serve as the program coordinator. If you like Little Five Points so much, take a cab downtown and do yout thing. We OM'ers like what we like and it's NOT anything you'd see in Little Five Points.

I bought a commemorative "seat" at the Strand, and have only attended one event. Earl and the gang need to follow the lead of other successful small venues ( The Kentucky Theater in Lexington, KY broadcasts a top ranked production of musical stars weekly on "Woodsongs", and the Variety Playhouse in Little 5 points has regular national entertainment ). The Strand has potential, but needs to open up its entertainment bookings to regular events that draw crowds beyond "OM". I have never been asked as a thousand dollar seat holder what I thought would be a good bill of entertainment..only solicitations for more money...Earl, get on the stick!
