Time to stop the march of socialism

DEAR EDITOR:
In a direct violation of the soon-to-come laws preventing any public dissent of the "United Socialist States' government," I would like to announce that our leaders have become nothing short of corrupted. They are what the Constitution sought to eliminate: weak, greedy and arrogant elitists who have no regard for anyone but those of their own party and ideals.

I am not the only one who has come to this conclusion. To judge by the tea parties, letters, speeches, shows, and every other form of personal interaction among constitutional Americans, the vast majority of citizens is disgusted with 'healthcare overhaul' and the rest of the socialist extensions by the government. What is happening in this country is the rule of the majority by a minority, and in a democracy this is unacceptable. "We the people" are both our leaders and our policy-makers, and the only way for us to properly govern ourselves is for the largest group to rule. When that situation is tampered with by anyone, Democratic, Republican or Libertarian, freedom ceases to exist and tyranny is established. Yes, tyranny, that situation from which America's founders ran from and hated, and which should be reason enough to avoid it at all costs.

Yet at this point, there is increasing evidence that what we want is of no consequence compared to what those who are willing to pay want. Earmarks used to be a "guilty pleasure" of sorts for lawmakers, allowing them to get free government cash for their pet projects, but they became a terrible weapon in the hands of Harry Reid as he bought votes to push forward a health care bill that violates countless constitutional provisions, among these "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Is it not painfully clear that what happened during the health debate was bribery? And as such, why is this man and all those who cooperated with him not impeached immediately?

The truth hurts: Our government's state is a corrupted, unconstitutional disgrace, and those in it now will not fix it by getting rid of its blatant criminals but rather do as much damage as they united possibly can.

This has to end. Lest the great country of America dissolves into a totally insignificant nation, stand up! In protest meetings and letters to constitutional violators, our voices may be censored by illegal government actions but that does not stop them from getting our message: We refuse to allow those who believe in a fairy tale world, where everyone gets along, willingly shares all they have, works as hard as possible, and disregards ethics, to run America into the ground.

This nation is a guiding light to the rest of the world, showing it the glory that a united and free country can accomplish, and destroying the communistic assumption that freedom is only an inconvenient truth that must be conquered in order for the race to prosper. We are hated by so many other oppressed nations for the hope we show their people, and the striving for a better life that it brings.

It is not too late to save America and its role as a leader; the right to vote (and remove the corrupted) is still unmolested, and we can tell our representatives exactly what we expect of them via numerous means. For too long we've been content to sit back and watch as our rights are traded for free handouts; it's time to throw away this cursed money and reclaim the glory and freedom that American stands for, by stopping the march of socialism and the corruption that it brings.

Well stated, Tim Tanko. Right on the target. Now let us all get up and get involved.

And Kenneth Parrott, just grow up.

Ah, but the Smith Act is still the law of the land; it has not be "used" since that point.

Perhaps you mistake my intent, though. Tanko absolutely has a right to speak his mind. And I have the right to disagree (as do you!).

You make me laugh Kim Huffman - you have to be a pink lady. I'm afraid you give woman a bad name. No thinking only emotion, name calling and hate.

But at least I can get amusement out of it all.

You belong in Berkley, not Cobb county

Hello there anonymous weasel. Yes, you are correct, the sedition act was overturned for exactly the same reasons that cause some of us to support Tanko's right to freely speak his mind. Why exactly are you bringing up the Smith Act, AKA the "Alien Registration Act"? It has also been "dead" since 1957 when the Supreme Court ruled in Watkins vs United States. Finally, can you please explain exactly how anyone might be charged with making a "libelous" statement about an "anonymous weasel"? I'll not hold my breath....

Kenneth,

If the Sedition Act hadn't been overturned, I'd be glad to appear. It's the Smith Act that some need to be concerned about.

Weasel? Now, that's just libelous.

Judy Anne:

Your way of thinking goes back to the election of 1800 where John Adams ( Federalist ) became president, and Thomas Jefferson ( Democrat-Republican party ) became vice president ( the second place finisher became vice president by law ).

The Federalist were so unhappy about Jefferson, their newspapers proclaimed that the election of Jefferson would cause the teaching of "murder, rape, robbery, incest, adultery and incest ".

So, your chicken little tirades and lack of faith in the democratic process is nothing new. Again, there are three branches of government that make, execute and interpret the laws, and I have faith at any point in time in two of them doing the right thing.

Tim (and others), I totally agree with you that the right to vote has not been taken away and you should absolutely exercise your right to elect the candidate of your choice. But, please spare us the immature reaction when your candidate loses. You sounds like children. Trust me, any person you vote for isn't going to change the world to your liking. same goes for me. How about we lighten up on the crass whining and finger pointing and work together for a change? Obama isn't perfect and neither was Bush - imagine that! an imperfect president! go figure.

sheesh people. get a life!

It is the people such as yourself, Kim, that will be the ones saying "Oh I didn't see that coming" when the government becomes more brazen and upfront about what they are really doing.

I would suggest that all should look to the corporations who control Congress for the biggest abuse of power. Whether it's healthcare, clean air or fiscal policy, they are the ones pulling the strings.

One need only look at the credit default swap fiasco and its relationship to the collapse of the housing bubble and the current recession to see the absolute greed of the "princes of industry."

O.K. Judy Ann and Indian Joe, please name a constitutional right or freedom that has been lost under Obama. You run scared and chicken little by listening to Beck and others who spew the real disinformation, but can't back your letters up and posts with real facts. Go ahead, name some rights and freedoms lost, that our Supreme Court has ok'd as constitutional...I do admit, though that Judy Ann and Indian Joe would make great names for another Fox hit take off of the Simpsons.

To Kim Huffman-you sound like a big bag of hot air and misinformation. You need to take some of you aggression and aim it at the government that is selling us all out.

As for "anonymous" accusation of seditious language, Why not read the SEDITION ACT.[Approved July 14, 1798.] and learn that if charged with making seditious statements, the defendant may bring proof of his claims to court, and then let a jury of his peers determine their validity. Are you up for that, you "anonymous" little weasel? By the way, why is it your kind always seem to prefer to be anonymous?

Indian Joe: I quake at your command of facts, logic and argument.

You seethe with the very things you hold as offensive, and belch the words of Beck, Hannity and other right wing nuts.

You couldn't name an erosion of a constitutional right or freedom wrought under Obama or the Dem's ( or Republicans for that matter ). Remember, the ultimate arbiter of the laws that congress makes, and Obama executes is the Supreme Court, which btw was stacked by the right wing....so Indian Joe, go back to your daily Fox programming.

To Pat H -- what's the difference between a regular communist and a radical communist? Are the regular ones ok? Do we just need to worry about the radical ones?

Let's see some proof to the claims the gentleman makes:

"...too quickly we will lose our rights to assembly and to bear arms."

"...soon-to-come laws preventing any public dissent..."

"...health care bill that violates countless constitutional provisions..."

Wow, sounds more like someone has overdosed on Glenn Beck. I'm fine with questioning and complaining about the government (that's healthy), but the language used here is seditious, at best.

Kim - why have I ceased to be amazed at your ridiculous response to anyone who dares to criticize this administration and the majority in congress. "Teabagging" candidates - you just can't help it can you - you have to be offensive and resort to name calling. Well, how about this - you are an IDIOT. Now, how do you like it? And Judy Ann, you are absolutely right, only an uprising enmasse will turn things around, and it better happen soon, because too quickly we will lose our rights to assembly and to bear arms. This is a slow but sure eradication of our freedoms and way of life, and believe me, after it is gone there will be no way to bring it back. Some of you people - like Kim - better wake up because what you are going to get it not a better country. And people like you, who have shown no loyalty at all to what this country has stood for, will be the first on their hit list, since they will know you can't be trusted. Think about it

Tim, I guess that many of us have been slow to realize just how far our country has fallen because we were not paying attention and holding our representative responsible. Your assessments of bribery, dishonesty and disloyalty seem, to me, to be very valid. It is really hard to believe that the so-called leaders have descended to this level. but apparently many of them are proud of what they have become.

We do need to seriously consider what we can do to begin to rescue our nation from the dismal present and disastrous future. However, unlike some of your critics, I think we need to work at it diligently and continuously and not just complain.

Your well justified frustration shows and maybe it will spread even to the "what's in it for me crowd."

Tim: Why do we keep sending our brave troops overseas to fight for our corrupt, criminally infested, communistic way of government. Stats show that we don't even get out the vote ( only 54 percent of eligible voters vote ).

You say, let the largest group rule..who would that be?,mob rule?..don't forget that our constitution was written to protect minorities and their rights, so as not to be trampled....maybe Palin or one of your teabagging candidates will do better next time and save the planet.
