Home'sCool Depot, a local nonprofit ministry in Powder Springs, has relocated to 4010 Fambrough Dr. in Powder Springs. They will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, January 28, from 6-8:30 pm.
The Depot, first opened its’ doors to homeschool students in 2004, offering them tutorial assistance and support to their families. Each year, the Depot's enrollment has increased, making a new location desirable and necessary.
The Depot serves students from Cobb, Douglas and Paulding counties. Many of the students are seasoned homeschoolers, looking for tutoring in more advanced classes. Other students are new to homeschooling and in need of guidance and accountability. The parents appreciate the experience of Kealei Castle, founder and director of the Depot.
The Depot serves elementary, middle and high school students. The students attend class twice a week in a regular classroom setting. Qualified tutors provide classroom assignments including homework and also keep the grades. Parents are able to check their students’ progress online by using the Depot’s web page. If students need extra help after school tutoring is available for $12 per hour.
Also offered to the high school students, is an accredited transcript service provided by Darlene Lee of Trinity Center for Independent Study, which is fully accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. Mrs. Lee provides counseling regarding requirements for a Georgia Diploma, College Application, Dual Enrollment, and keeps up with current changes affecting graduation. Trinity Center also provides testing services for homeschoolers who do all their school work at home.
