Mr. Harold Edward Flynn, age 86 of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with the Rev. Cliff Duvall officiating. A private graveside service will be held. A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Mr. Flynn had been a resident of Smyrna for over 70 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was employed for over 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. He was member of the American Legion Post #160 and a longtime member of the Smyrna First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Flynn. Surviving are son & daughter-in-law, Ed & Cindy Flynn of Norcross; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Bonnie & Gary Cohoon of Woodstock, Linda & Jerry Scarborough of Smith's Station, AL; 6 grandchildren, Lesley Smith, Jason Scarborough, Mandy Latimer, Pam Smith, Jared Scarborough, Kindall Scarborough; 6 great grandchildren, Timothy, Kayla, Nathan, Andrew, Griffin, and Lily. Also survived by his beloved dog Mickey. In lieu of flowers of flowers contributions may be made to the Calvary Children's Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Rd., Powder Springs, GA 30127. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 P.M. Saturday at the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna.
