Christmas trees are glittering holiday centerpieces in the homes of many this time of year. Although finding the perfect tree, wrapping the lights on each branch and arranging the ornaments on ol' Tannenbaum can be quite challenging, the Christmas tree is worth its splendor.

For Susan Hawk, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a Christmas tree, or two, or three or four. In fact, Susan has 14 different themed trees in her Marietta home. "They're in almost every room," she said.

"A lot of them are big," said Susan, who explained that most are 9 feet or taller. Not many are tabletop trees, she said. "They're tree trees."

Susan begins decorating a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving. "I've done this every year for 15 years," she said.

When she was a child, decorations were kept to a minimal. "I have gone to the dark side," said Susan with a laugh. "I love Christmas traditions," she added.

Susan who purchases ornaments on vacation and travels looks for something unique. Not only does she decorate the tree in theme but also the room is often festooned for Christmas in the same theme.

"I usually see something and come up with an idea and put it (a tree) together," said the wife of Jim Hawk, President and CEO of Toyo Tire.

Her favorite tree is the Gold and Silver 12-foot tree that stands in her two-story foyer. "The ornaments are big and beautiful. It's very elaborate," said the mother of one grown son, Chris.

Other themes of trees throughout the home include gingerbread, snowman, Santa, Christopher Radko ornaments, Mardi Gras, Westie, retro tree, musical, and blue and white tree.

"When people come in the front door, they can't believe it," she said.

Oh Christmas trees, Oh Christmas trees. How lovely are your branches!
