Patrick George Yelton, 67, of Marietta, GA, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 surrounded by friends at his home after a short battle with cancer. He was born October 20, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Leona (Becker) and Clifford Yelton. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, John Kieran Yelton. Surviving are sister, Janet Howell and her husband Thomas; nephews, Robert Lee and Patrick Cliff Slater, their children and grandchildren of Evansville, Indiana; a cousin, Kathleen Ebemier; aunts, Evelyn Gerdes and Helen Raithel of St. Louis, Missouri and good friends, Jeannie and Ben Dennard of Toccoa, Georgia. Pat was a devoted father and son. He attended Christ the King School, Marist School, and graduated from The Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Engineering. He served as a Tech Sergeant for 22 years in the Georgia Air National Guard. Pat retired from Lucent Technologies as Chief Engineer and Building Operations Manager. He was a member of the Pioneer Club, Corvette Club and Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta. He enjoyed playing golf, restoring and building cars. His family extends special thanks to Don George, Pat's friends, and The Heritage Farms neighbors for their faithful support. Interment will follow The Celebration of Life in the Sunrise Chapel at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, Georgia, on Saturday, December 19th at 2:00 pm. with Deacon Tom Coffee and Chaplain Maj. Keith Dobbe officiating. H.M. Patterson and Son, Canton Hill Chapel will handle the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association Research or the Special Olympics.
