School board member Alison Bartlett apologizes for investigation's handling ...
CCSS employee/parent wrote -Allison, since the first deciding meeting on the balanced calendar, or should I say "decided" meeting, I have been wanting to congratulate you for putting yourself out there. You show nothing but guts and tenacity in your willingness to do show and shed some light on the truth. Frankly, the families of Cobb schools and many teachers are sick to death with all the insincerity, false platforms to get in office etc., all done with a handshake and a plastered-on smile that go hand-in-hand with most of your fellow board members.
School Advocate wrote - Of course concerned Cobb employees would only call Board Member Bartlett - the others can't be trusted nor have intellectual ability to understand and clearly would not take action or alert the true stakeholders. This school board earns the title of "worst ever" on a weekly basis. Hang tough, Alison!
A parent and voter wrote - How appropriate that Mrs. Bartlett can apologize for the way the investigation was handled, but does not have the character to apologize directly to the principals. I watched the Nov. 11 meeting and Mrs. Bartlett said "five or more principals." I don't remember her ever using the word process. Now that the damage is done, she thinks it's OK to apologize to the way the investigation was handled, but not to those directly affected. This tells me a lot about a person, and from what I'm seeing, I don't find her very forthcoming with what happened.
James Wilson wrote - What investigation? Why do you think that a principal is an investigator? I have never been and in my retirement I will not become one. What makes this retired principal think she can play one for Sanderson? Now if you hired a Cobb County retired investigator, I would reconsider. Of course, the purpose of the investigation would have to be to find out the truth, not to smear a board member, which I believe was the purpose in this case all along.
Dustoff wrote - There was no investigation, it was a witch hunt by Sanderson and his cronies. It is a fact that the top people at the BOE bow and scrape to Sanderson, it's been seen, everyone with half a brain knows most of the board is scared to stand up to Sanderson. He is only one step above (former Superintendent Joe) Redden. People, the only way to clean this up is to pay attention to who is running, what they say, who supports them and who donates the big bucks to a campaign. Pull the donation records on each and every board member, pull all of Sanderson and his cronies' bank accounts and probably you will see a pattern of payments.
RDKA wrote - Alison: You and David Morgan are the only two on the board who seem truly concerned with your constituents and the rest of us in the Cobb system. You have nothing to apologize for. You are doing your job. Thank you. The rest of them should have been hauled out by the police.
Cobb Parent wrote - Alison, you are a class act. Please continue to make your voice heard and represent the citizens against the status quo and political stance of the other board members. You and David Morgan are the only two members without agendas and serving the public in the interest of the children. Thank you for your candor and service.
Ralph F wrote - I will be writing an e-mail to the board members stating that what I witnessed in their behavior was horrible. I of course will not be sending it from my main e-mail account. I'm afraid something might happen to my kids.
Great Job wrote - Alison, continue to ask the hard questions. Do not be deterred by this episode. Personally I would like to see you and David Morgan become chair/vice chair of the Board. Only then will there be real debate about things that matter to parents, and educators - i.e., a strategic plan with targets that was never debated in public by the CCSD board as a collective. That is beyond ridiculous! Also, please, please insist on getting the answer to your question as to what percentage of schools already meets the targets! That is critical and is the type of analysis that should have happened in public prior to approval of targets. If only 10 percent are meeting proposed achievement targets vs. 95 percent, that can clearly, spur debate even by the most incompetent of your colleagues - I won't name any names but she is the one who loves to hear herself speak!
Lily James wrote - That's not an apology for what you did! You are apologizing for the investigator. Be a grownup! Take responsibility in that you heard some grousing, some speculation and turned it in to a three ring circus!
Board watcher wrote - How about giving the benefit of the doubt to your fellow educators and support professionals, Mrs. Bartlett? Extend some common courtesy to the system's technology people and don't assume they're part of a conspiracy! Most of Cobb's employees are voters, too ... don't forget that.
