Teacher accused of underage sex ...
Angry, Angry, Angry wrote - "I raised my daughter to be better than that?" What the ... Hello, she is 17 years old being manipulated by a grown man. I don't care how you raised her, she made a mistake out of pressure from a person that was supposed to be her leader. I think the teacher is 100 percent guilty. I don't care if the girl threw her naked body at him, he was a teacher and he should know better, he is the adult here. Not her. Even if it was consensual I don't agree it is OK for it to happen. As a teacher you are held to higher standards than others. If you can't meet those standards then quit teaching. I expect my pastor to have higher standards than most and I would expect teachers of my children to have higher standards, too. I am ill about this whole thing. I pity the 17-year-old child that was victimized here.
What logic? wrote - Of course when hypocrites like D.A. Pat Head or assistant Maurice Brown are prosecuting a 16-year old, suddenly they prosecute the defendant like an adult and they urge the judge to sentence the teenager like an adult. Not a peep about how sometimes teenagers make bad choices.
Former Pat Supporter - What is Pat Head doing prosecuting a case that he knows is not a crime? Yeah, I get it, we don't want teachers having sex with students. However, this is an abuse of power. I thought prosecutors were bound by an oath to uphold the law, not use it to advance your own personal beliefs.
Kim wrote - Maurice Brown, Assistant D.A. is "trying to show that teens don't always make good decisions," compared to who, adults? Maybe Tiger Woods and his harem can show what good adult decision making is. How old was the "Virgin Mary" when she took up with Joseph? As she was impregnated by "the holy spirit" (screams statutory rape to me). If the law is 17, then, that's the law. Change the law if it inappropriate, instead of following this flimsy proprietary gambit.

Wake Up Call wrote - Sadly, what is being properly and well exposed (hat tip to reporter Jon Gillooly and his editors) as to the secrecy shenanigans that have been going on for years at CCSD and the BOE - is but the tip of the iceberg in Cobb County as a whole. A deeper look into a variety of county departments, all the way to the top, will assure you how this county is actually run. As long as things are going well, no one cares. Trouble is, things aren't running so well now ... and suddenly many fingers are being pointed. Suddenly, the good-ol-boys are being spotted doing their backroom and drop-of-the-envelope deals. Stay tuned, folks. There's much more to come.
School Advocate wrote - Can't wait to hear the response from Broken and Clueless. They can't defend the impossible.
Alan wrote -So here's the $64,000 question: Will the school board now write a letter to the MDJ to defend Brock?
Steven ff wrote - Bid it out. Bid it out. Bid it out! I'm sure there is someone who could do a better job and hopefully cost the taxpayers less money.

OMIPS wrote - A long time ago in a world far, far away there was a place called Mayberry. There, week after week, Sheriff Andy Taylor used good, homespun common sense to keep the peace and ride herd on a cast of loony characters - Barney Fife, Gomer Pyle, cousin Goober, Floyd the barber and many others. Andy is now gone, along with his down-home common sense. Barney is now the sheriff. Gomer and Goober are his deputies. God help us everyone.

Ecshm wrote - How horrible. I can't imagine what this child went through. But it leaves me with a question. A 4 and 7 year old didn't do anything? But they were in the same room. If the two older children didn't act toward their sibling's cries, what kind of abuse was happening in that home? At least these three other children are young enough to be helped and a possible normal life. Hats off to foster parents.
SRS wrote - I don't think we can comprehend the horrific pain this child went through while dying a slow death. Where was the mother? Why was this child left in a swing all night? We should all be outraged. Chances are someone has seen this woman's abuse of her children and didn't report it-because they didn't want to get involved.
