There is a lot going on this week. Trial is set to begin Monday for Christopher King, a former teacher at Marietta High accused of having sex with a student. But the girl, who was 17 when the relationship began, continues to insist it was consensual, and state law does allow consent of a victim over age 16 to be a defense. We'll be watching in Judge Flournoy's courtroom...

On Tuesday morning, the board of the Marietta Museum of History *may* vote on whether to acquire the artifacts of the now-defunct Aviation Museum and Discovery Center.

On Tuesday night, the Marietta school board will discuss its calendar options for future years. One option mirrors Cobb's controversial "balanced" calendar.

Wednesday is a Marietta City Council meeting. Always a good time.

Thursday night the Cobb School board will meet. We learned last week about a study done by an district employee regarding teacher absences in the district. The full report mentions that substitute teachers only need a high school diploma, or a GED, to sub for up to 29 days. I find that stunning. Stay tuned.
