Editor's note: The following is the story of someone who has been helped through Cobb Cares. Names have been changed to protect privacy.

Mr. Hyde was referred to Cobb Cares by the Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services for rental assistance. Mr. Hyde, a long-time resident of Cobb County, had recently gained custody of his three children from their mother and was in need of assistance in paying one month of rent. Mr. Hyde is and was employed full-time, but the added cost of taking care of three children caused Mr. Hyde to fall behind in his bills at first. With assistance from Cobb Cares, Mr. Hyde was able to get caught up on all of the household bills and adjust his income so that he could take care of his children.

Glad to see so many are being helped. Guess the "change" was not what many thought it would be. There once was a time when neighbors helped neighbors - but now that the government is involved in everything we do - and you could be sued by trying to help someone out - it is a different world. How sad

Beth Bibbs, just hang on in there and keep praying i'm going to say a special one for you tonite. i recently went thru a similar situation the only difference was i had no family to rely on, at least you have your parents. i had an expired tag, a dead beat x-husband who makes alot of money, and one sick kid as far as i knew. well i had to take my one child to the hospital with no money and an illegal tag but i had to do what was best for my child. well low and behold he had strep throat, so i had to bring back the rest of my 4 children and they were all tested positive for strep and so was i. i am just greatful that i was able to help my children feel better with or with out a husband or money. trust me it can be worse. just believe and have FAITH and it will get better before you know it.

Beth, It is hard to readjust to such a dramatic life change...Stay strong! There is one way to get back on your feet, that is to sign up for school through the WIA which is located at Cobb Works. While you are in school DFACS is more amp to assist for some strange reason even though your situation hasn't changed....For anyone having problem in Cobb County there are alot of services available know one likes to disclose everything but its out here. There is a resource center on Roswell Road which helps with everything from rental assistant to food and prescriptiong assistant. To everyone thats going through somethings remember God is in charge and he will not put on you more than you can bear. God bless you all.

I could really use some help. I am trying to get a divorce from my no good husband, I have three children under five years old, i live with my parents, can't find a job. This happend all today. I went to my tanf appointment and got denied for child care assistance, my son broke out in a rash last night. Took him to the doctor today to find out he's got strep throat, and then on my way from getting his prescription I got a flat tire. I am really proud that cobb care helped that man out, cause it is really hard for anyone in this crappy economy. can someone please pray for me and my family. thanks.

How exactly did he adjust his income? That's easier said than done, obviously.

I think it is wonderful to know that people still care about those less fortunate, jobless, or even just having it hard! I hope some day, I'm able to help as much as possible! Take care my strong brother, and just remember someone else is having it harder, so don't give up. God is good, my prayers are with you and your family, and you're not alone....Pray for my family as well.

Thank you
