The Reverend T.A. "Junior" Merritt, Jr. age 91 of Powder Springs, GA died Sunday, November 29, 2009. A native of Crustherville, MO, Rev. Merritt was born May 7, 1918, the son of T.A. Merritt, Sr. and Maude Anderson Merritt. Reverend Merritt was the former pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Marietta; Ebenezer Baptist Church in Mableton and Buffington Baptist Church in Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Brenda Sue Merritt. Reverend Merritt is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Stephanie Merritt and Brandon and Stacy Merritt, all of Dallas, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Howard Stephens of Cumming; Judy and George Caviness of Powder Springs; Sandra and George Doyal of Austell; Carleen and Ricky Cheatwood and Tonya and Tony McAllister, all of Dallas; brother, Donald Merritt of Cedar Hill, MO and sister, Juanita Barrett of Mableton; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1 at 2 p.m. at the Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
