America a Christian nation

DEAR EDITOR:

The phrase "so help me God" should remain in the Marietta police oath. An oath invokes a higher authority to be a guarantor for the oath taker. If a candidate will not recognize God, I do not care to see him handed a badge and gun.

Regardless of what our president tells the world, America is a Christian Nation, founded by Christians, based on God's laws. Thus, this phrase is entirely consistent with our godly heritage - reflected in our National Motto, the Pledge of Allegiance, U.S. Supreme Court's marshal's opening chant, etc.

This kind of politically correct nonsense will be the undoing of this country. We cannot expect to continue to benefit from God's blessing and protection, if we continue to push Him from society.

Like the Taliban, you seek to convert everyone to your beliefs. Like the Taliban, you wish to kill those whose beliefs differ from yours. Like the Taliban, you use threats to get what you want. Like the Taliban, you seek to establish theocracy.

Some of you are certainly dominionists, convinced you're better than all other faiths, and suffering to "allow" other's beliefs.

I have many good friends who are of Christian faith, and I treasure them. They are devout in their beliefs, but they recognize that one of the concepts our founding fathers fought so hard for - religious freedom - can be experienced by EVERY American, whether they are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Deist, Atheist or Agnostic or "none."

Do you wonder why the "nones" are now 15% of the population?

mk--

You seem to be pretty across the board with your bigotry, and appear to be one of the most hateful, bitter, miserables I've encountered. Enjoy life!

Yeah, I remember the Southern Baptist founding this country, don't you? I think most of the founding "fathers" were not Christians, but Deist..Just read Thomas Jefferson's version of the bible.

Our Pledge of Allegiance had nothing to do with "under God" until Joseph McCarthy's communist scare tactics of 1954.

I trust our cops and fireman based on their skill, dedication, training and passion, not on their religious beliefs.

What about our Jewish community?, you don't trust their no Christian ways, either?..maybe you think of them, as "They are just like, us, except they don't believe in Jesus" mentality.

Hey Anonymous, there is no "Christian Taliban," except in your mind. The real Taliban works in the offensive, seeking to destroy that which is important and precious to a person or nation. Christians (of all denominations) seek to save that which is important and precious: all our God-given freedoms, ways of life, sacntity of life, etc. Eliminating references to God comes before eliminating 'places' and 'worship' of God.

Lazy Americans have been sitting in their lounge chairs for years now, while our country has been invaded by all kinds of 'illegal aliens'. Included are the Muslims, even the radical extremists--(but you wouldn't want to hurt their feelings!). It's just a matter of time before all of America resembles Juarez, Mexico.(or Detroit)

Just look @ what IS HAPPENING before your very eyes!

GO SHOPPING Americans, GO SHOPPING!!
