John Marshalek, 82, of Acworth died Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Monday morning in the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Williams and the Rev. Jim Chidester officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 Monday afternoon in the Georgia National Cemetery. Mr. Marshalek will lie in state in the church for 1 hour prior to the funeral service. A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Marshalek served his country in the US Navy during WW II and also as a pilot in the US Air Force attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was retired from Classic Cadillac as an automobile mechanic and was a member of VFW Post # 5408, the John Birch Society, the National Rifle Association, and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Marshalek of Acworth; daughters, Robin Slater of Grahamsville, NY, Deborah Rasmussen of Canton, Susan Issman of Madisonville, LA, Cynthia Ferraiolo of Accord, NY, and Regina Puckett of Temple; son, Jimmy Parnell of Hiram; sister, Lillian Merchant of Peru, IN; brother, Thomas Marshalek of New York; 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
