MARIETTA - Cobb Police re-arrested Marietta nurse anesthetist Paul Serdula, 47, Monday night on child molestation, sodomy and aggravated sexual battery charges.

Serdula was initially arrested last week on eavesdropping charges after police said they found several videos he made of himself assaulting women while they were under anesthesia. He was released from Cobb County Jail earlier this week after he posted a $50,000 bond.

Following his initial arrest, Cobb Police asked anyone who had a dental or medical procedure in which they were put under anesthesia to contact their primary care physician and ask if Serdula may have administered the anesthesia.

Since Serdula was a contract certified registered nurse anesthetist, he worked for various dental or medical physicians, not one in particular, in the metro area and outside the state, Cobb Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

His Monday arrest on additional charges comes after a juvenile was identified as one of his victims, Pierce said.

He is back in Cobb County Jail without bond, according to the Cobb Sheriff's Web site.

Police said a few others who they believe may be victims have also come forward.

Anyone with information on Serdula is asked to call (770) 499-3945 or e-mail Detectives Christopher Twiggs or William Caldwell at Christopher. Twiggs@cobbcounty.org or William. Caldwell@cobbcounty.org.

"Not only do we believe that we potentially have hundreds of victims out there, but we also have evidence that he was operating outside the state," Pierce said.

"We don't know how long this activity has been going on, so we're not putting a time frame on it."

I also work at a Wellstar Hospital. I have worked with Paul for a long time and he has never in anyway been inappropriate with his co-workers or patients. I cannot even think of a time he would be alone with the patient without co-workers nearby walking in and out of the work area.

I don't know why you don't tell the complete story. He worked primarily out of the Wellstar hospitals for the last 10 years and probably anesthetized thousands of patients there. Nurse anesthetists bill under the anesthesiologist's name so the patient might not know who was in the room when they were asleep. If Wellstar patients got an anesthesia bill from ApolloMD they should call to see if Paul Serdula was their anesthetist.
