Sue Ellen Nichols Hiers, passed from this life to join our Heavenly Father Thursday, the 5th of November. She amazed all that knew her with the way she so strongly and selflessly battled breast and ovarian cancer for 10 years. Born March 21, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, Sue was a sweet and committed wife and mother who loved her family and treasured having them in her home. Sue leaves a huge number of friends and family to cherish the amazing, lovely life she led. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hiers Sr. of Marietta GA; their children, Donald Hiers Jr. of Greenville SC, Tad & Emily Deriso of Richmond VA, Stuart & Christy Everett of Marietta GA; sister, Sharron Beck and grandchildren, Donald Hiers III, Sara Deriso, Kate Deriso, Caleb Everett who love her and will miss her dearly. Memorial gifts and flowers may be sent to the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, and contributions may be made to MBUMC- Sue Hiers Memorial Fund to be used for future Habitat for Humanity-Cause for Christ projects.
