DEAR EDITOR:

We have all read of the plight of the flood victims in Cobb. The government is saying it might be years before money can be dispersed to aid these poor people. Meanwhile vacant homes are rotting, owners are walking away from mortgages and subdivision home values are plummeting.

Why not divert money for parks to buy these properties and create parks in their place? We could create passive parks with walking trails along Sweetwater Creek and kill several birds with one stone. Never again would homes be built in the flood plain. I am sure this would conflict with the plans of some commissioners, but we have an emergency and people are suffering. It's our duty to put partisan plans aside and do what's right for all the residents of our county.

There is a group trying to help the flood victims. Cobb Disaster Recovery is hosting community meetings to help those folks suffering from the floods in Cobb County. I tried posting a reply in one of the reports earlier and my comments did not post. WHY WOULD YOU NOT WANT TO SHARE THIS INFO?? www.cobbrecovery.org
