Doraville officials recently nixed a proposal by the Atlanta Falcons to convert the old GM site to a new stadium for the NFL team, which is disenchanted with the still almost-new Georgia Dome. Do you think Cobb County would be a suitable site for a new stadium for the team? Somewhere in the I-75 corridor, perhaps? And if so, should public money be used to help build it? More specifically, Cobb County money?
And a follow-up question: If the team is unsuccessful in finding a new suburban location, should state money be used to help build the team a new stadium downtown?
NO, NO, NO, NO, and NO!!
At long last, the traffic is better up here. Unfortunately, it's because everyone's out of work. No more taxpayer-funded "improvements" to the County. Civic Centers, stadia, and the like are for times when we're flush. Now that we're all broke, unemployed and without health insurance, we discover that Cobb--one the richest Counties in the state-- has no services for a population in the throes of a near-depression.
Nice work, Sam.
How about taking over all the worthless strip malls and fast food joints around the Cobb Civic Center and build it there? Easy access to I-75 via Delk as well as the North AND South Loops; plus access via Delk/Atlanta Road and Cobb Parkway. Then, lease that GIANT lockheed parking lot for shuttled parking and save the costs of building more parking. There, done! Now get started!!!!!
