Mother Nature has been feeling quite social lately, making her appearance at numerous affairs. Although she brought with her the gift of rain, the outlook at the evening wedding of Susan Clark and Raymond Dellinger on Sept. 19 was still sunny.

Conducted at the historic Marietta home of Jan and Larry Fazzio, Ed Lester escorted Susan down the aisle. Wedding designs from Will Hopkins, owner of Fleu de Coop Antique's, Town Center Mall, included topiary-style chandeliers that romantically lit a white tent and cupcake stand made of candelabras. The bride made and decorated carrot, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Music was provided by Danny Stagg with dancing on the veranda.

Guests included: Mother of bride Dee Sloan, Gabriel Amador, Scherry and Jeff Clark, Brett Graham, Patti and Larry Hansen, Ginny and Mark McNabb, Linda and Alton Freeman, Dana and Glen Garcia, Ginny and Ed Kempf, Kathy and Sam Marko, Jerolyn and Tim Smith, Tray and Denise Taylor.

The couple enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise for their honeymoon.

On Oct. 26 at the 2009 Ovation Awards, the Cobb Arts Board and the Friends of the Arts honored and recognized Pat Chilton and posthumously Warren "Red" Chilton.

Members of The Bennett Woods Garden Club in Smyrna celebrated their 35th Anniversary on Oct. 14 at a luncheon at the newly restored Taylor-Brawner House in Smyrna. Thirty-five members were present along with 11 guests, including nine former members, who helped to organize the Club in October of 1974.

The 79-member club continues as a viable organization promoting goodwill and togetherness in its neighborhood off Concord Road. In recent months, the current membership has organized a Neighborhood Watch Program, fully staffed with block captains, covering the entire area of 296 homes.

In an era where neighborhoods maintain their vitality for less than 40 years, Bennett Woods thrives with residents, young and old, working together to maintain the quality of the neighborhood. President Allegra Goodman is a younger resident who embodies the ongoing spirit of the community. The club also reaches out to the larger community, with beautification projects at the Smyrna Fire Station No. 2 on Concord Road and also King Springs Elementary School, both of which serve the Bennett Woods Area.
