Eloise Holcomb Lanier, 83, of Acworth, passed away Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2pm at Acworth First Baptist Church with Dr. David Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. She will lie in state Sunday, 1:15 pm-2pm at the church. A native of Murray County, GA, Mrs. Lanier had lived in Acworth for several years. She was a homemaker and a member of Acworth First Baptist Church. She was involved with the G.A. Club at Acworth First Baptist. Mrs. Lanier enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Carrie Dywer Garden Club. She also spent time teaching at the Dogwood Christian Academy in Rocky Face, GA. Survivors include husband of 58 years, Jack Lanier of Acworth; sons, Ron Lanier and wife, Sharalee of Acworth, Mike Lanier and wife, Michele of Acworth; grandchildren, Paige, Lauren, Casey and Corey Lanier; brothers, Thomas Holcomb of Rocky Face, GA, Claude Holcomb of Rocky Face, GA, Raymond Holcomb of Tunnel Hill, GA, Frank Holcomb of McDonough, GA; sister, Cora Mae Bailey of Cohutta, GA. The Family will receive friends, Saturday, October 24, 4pm-6pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the WMU, c/o Acworth First Baptist Church, 4583 Church Street, Acworth, GA 30101
She always spoke softly and seemed to have a kind word for all who knew her.
