Located in a small shopping center that you might miss if you weren't looking for it, Caper's is where the unexpected is discovered.
Serving New American cuisine, the menu features cutting-edge comfort food beautifully presented on caliber with an Atlanta restaurant. Menu items ranging from all types of seafood and pastas to salads and steaks are prepared fresh daily.
"Our cuisine is a melting pot of foods, techniques and styles," said owner/chef Steven Dudley, who develops the recipes and menus. "America is a melting pot of nationalities and ethnic groups, and (the food) represents all that."
Dudley owns Caper's with his wife, Veronica.
Caper's is an eclectic restaurant with an enclosed porch and cozy seating area inside. Veronica serves as hostess and her friendly staff keep the regulars coming back. Though the parking is limited and restaurant small, the place is fun and the food, delicious.
"I think Kennesaw was ready for a restaurant of this caliber," said Dudley, who had been in the restaurant business 25 years before opening Caper's in 2004.
We started our meal with a delightful Caper's salad of mixed greens, Parmesan cheese, fried beets, dried cranberries and tomatoes tossed with roasted tomato vinaigrette. My husband enjoyed barbecue salmon. Served over roasted cream corn, the entree remains on the menu as Caper's bestseller and good bet.
We also enjoyed Blackened Spicy Salmon Bowtie pasta, ordered upon recommendation of the table next to us as their favorite. Served with spicy Parmesan sauce, tomatoes, green onions and mushrooms, the dish is a must-try.
Moderately priced for the type of well-executed food, dinner entrees range from $7 to $19 with the average price around $14. It is open for lunch and dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
With its upscale food at a reasonable price, Caper's is delicious deal. For more information, visit www.capersonmainst.com or call (678) 594-7735.
