Could this finally be the year? The year the Atlanta Falcons win a Super Bowl? And the year they finally manage to have two consecutive winning seasons — something they have not done in their four-decade history?

I think the answer is yes, on both counts. Banking back-to-back winning seasons looks ridiculously simple at this point, although judging by franchise history, the bottom might still fall out. But I don’t think so.

Getting to the Super Bowl will be much tougher, obviously. And the biggest obstacle — the undefeated New Orleans Saints — are in the same division. But all it takes is one or two key injuries to turn a great team into a mediocre one, so anything cold still happen.

But my money is on the Falcons. What about yours?

We may have a Super Bowl offense, but the defense has a way to go.
