Sixteen students from Kell High School, their German teacher and their parents, along with 16 German exchange students and two teachers from The Dr.-Wilhelm-Andre-Gymnasium in Chemnitz, Germany, recently celebrated the end of a 2 week German American Partnership Exchange program. The party was conducted at the student center at Kennesaw State University and sponsored by the KSU German Club.

This is the second time Kell and DWAG have participated with each other in the exchange. The German students submerge themselves in American life by living with their American family, learning about culture, attending school and participating in activities around the city. In June, the American students will travel to Germany to stay with their exchange partner's family.

Congratulations to Rita and Jim Amatulli of east Cobb who celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on Oct. 4. Soon to be 93 and 96 respectively, Rita keeps things lively by volunteering and conducting her copyrighted senior aerobics program at the Mountain View Library.

Rita volunteered her program at the opening of the East Cobb Senior Center where she also taught the Seniors Line Dancing to the Big Band Music. Rita's Line Dance group entertained at the many "Senior Living" facilities, as well at Sprayberry and Sequoyah High Schools and churches in the area.

On Oct. 1, Junior League of Cobb-Marietta Sustainers conducted its first event of the year by collecting items for local schools. Frances Bogle and Beverly McCollum coordinated the Park Street Elementary Schools project and Carol Fey coordinated donations for Community In Schools. Both collected clothing items and monetary donations. The projects are ongoing for the sustainers this year.

Pam Newton, Sustainer Director, and Monica Hickman, Sustainer Liaison, organized a dinner reception conducted in the lovely home of sustainer Judy Ballard. Diane Bolen, president, welcomed sustainers and introduced board members Tracy Rathbone, Cory Richardson, Amy Knudsen and Christine Sloane. She also discussed The Million Minute Read Program sponsored by Georgia Junior Leagues with a goal of getting one million minutes read to Georgia children. Haley Kelley, chair of Mistletoe Market, reminded all that Mistletoe Market, the largest fundraiser for JLCM, is today through Saturday. Visit the MM at the Cobb Civic Center.
