COBB COUNTY - Some Cobb countians could be lining up today to receive the H1N1, or swine flu, vaccine.

Cobb and Douglas Public Health has received 4,200 doses of the nasal-spray vaccine, but they are only for children ages 2 to 4. It will be available beginning this morning at the health department's main office at 1650 County Services Parkway in Marietta.

There is no cost for the vaccine at the health department, and it is given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"We take instructions from the state department, so right now we're just going by what they give us and what they tell us to do," said Darlene Foote, a spokeswoman for Cobb and Douglas Public Health.

The other five health department offices in Cobb will begin giving the H1N1 vaccinations this afternoon. Those centers are at: 4938 Lower Roswell Road, in east Cobb; 4489 Acworth Industrial Drive, Acworth; 1955 Lake Park Drive, Suite 300, and 3830 South Cobb Drive, Suite 200, both in Smyrna; and 875 Six Flags Drive, Austell.

Most centers are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though more details are available by calling (770) 514-2300 or online at www.cobbanddouglaspublichealth.org.

Private doctor's offices are required to order their supply of the vaccine through the state health department. WellStar physician offices have yet to receive any of the H1N1 vaccine doses.

But when they do, patients will make appointments for the vaccinations, and there will be a $15 administrative fee. Most insurance companies do not charge a co-pay for a flu vaccination and may cover that fee, said Keith Bowermaster, WellStar's communications director.
