Thomas Patrick Lyons, age 34, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009. Services were held on Monday, September 21, 2009, in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Dr. Byron Morgan officiating. Interment was at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with full military honors. Mr. Lyons was born in Andrews, SC, to Reeder F. Lyons, III and Diana McCollum on 5 April 1975. He attended Harrison High School and began his military career in 2001 when he enlisted as an Armored Crewman in the 48th Infantry Brigade in the Army National Guard. After serving a tour in Iraq, he enlisted in the United States Army in 2006 where he served his second tour in Iraq where he served as tank commander. He was scheduled to return to Iraq in October 2009 for his third tour. He formerly attended Mountain View Church in Marietta as well as Grace Community Church in Marietta. He is survived by his parents, Reeder and Sharon Lyons of Dallas and Diana McCollum of Athens; brothers, Phillip Lyons of Morgan and Michael Lyons of Marietta as well as many other family members and friends.
