Mr. Terry Garrard Williams, 65, of Ellijay, formerly of Rome, Smyrna and Marietta died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. He was born Nov. 24, 1943, the son of the late Marshall and Mildred Chamblee Williams in Floyd County. He attended East Rome High School and then entered the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged Nov. 23, 1964. He served on the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise. He served with the department of the Air Force at Dobbins AFB in Marietta where he achieved top security clearance. He worked with the Georgia Tech Police and was a firefighter with the City of Smyrna Fire Department for six years. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed general contractor. He had been a resident of Ellijay for 3 years. He attended the First Baptist Church of Ellijay and was a Mason and Shriner, a member of Yaarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta. He is survived by wife, Linda F. Watkins Williams; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra and David Moss, Amy Williams, both of Marietta; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and David Fincher, of Rome; and two grandchildren, Kaylan and Garrett. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. David Drake and the Rev. Charles Lively officiating. Brandon Nunley performed an inspirational song. Interment was in Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome, with military graveside rites.
