Doris Taylor Colwell, age 74, Blue Ridge, GA passed away Saturday, September 6, 2009 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Doris Taylor Colwell was born and raised in Fannin County and she loved every minute of it! Although she and Coy made a home for their girls in Marietta, her heart was in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A classic artist, warmth and beauty were the essence of Doris' life. From a perfectly appointed table filled with delicious food to a welcoming bedroom where travelers could rest... her world echoed of love. From hand-painted portraits and pastoral scenes to hand-crocheted helmet liners for our troops in Afghanistan, her love touched the hearts and lives of everyone she met. The only thing greater than her love, was her faithfulness to her family, to those in need and to God. The sick... the down-trodden... the destitute... the discouraged... all experienced God's love here on earth because of her dedicated service as His heavenly ambassador. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 KJV. Mrs. Colwell was the daughter of the late James Fred Taylor, Sr. and Ruth Agnes Chastain Taylor. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jack Taylor. Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Coy Colwell of Blue Ridge; daughters and son-in-laws, Joy and Todd Motter of Acworth, GA and Amy and Rev.
