The result was a 41-14 loss to Chattooga dropping the Bucs record to 0-2
"We made a lot of mental and physical mistakes early in the game, the turnovers put us in a hole early and it was too late to come back," said Buccaneers coach Gary Varner.
The first mistake came when quarterback Jared Harris was sacked and fumbled into the end zone.
Chattooga defensive lineman Korri Tanner pounced on the ball for the first score of the game. On the next Buccaneer play from scrimmage, Harris and running back Miles Jones fumbled a handoff and once again Tanner fell on the fumble for the Indians.
From there the Chattooga offense took the game over.
Quarterback Rashad Ramsey completed 5-of-7 including two completions of over 40 yards to Spencer London and two touchdowns.
Senorise Perry and the Indians offensive line had their way all day as Perry ran for 148 yards on just nine carries and the Indians ran for 239 yards as a team.
"We challenged our guys up front to win the line of scrimmage, we knew with our speed we had a chance to do good things in the run game and we did," said Chattooga coach Brad Waggoner.
Even when it looked like Chattooga was going to make a mistake, it turned out to be something special. When Perry lined up in punt formation for the Indians, he fumbled the snap picked it up and took off up the sideline. Seventy-five yards later and Chattooga had a 35-0 lead.
Late in the second half, Allatoona backup quarterback Adrian Lyons threw for two touchdowns for a 41-14 final score. Lyons finished the day with 30 yards passing. Allatoona running back Miles Jones ran for 91 yards but couldn't find the end zone.
"This week we are going to be getting back to basics in practice," Varner said of how his team will be preparing for Grovetown. "A little less game planning, a little more focus on blocking and tackling."
Despite the score, Waggoner had good things to say about the Bucs.
"You can tell that team is going to be good, they are young now but you can see that Allatoona is a team that is going to be really good in the near future. They are doing things the right way and in a year or two you won't want to play those guys," said Coach Waggoner.
Allatoona returns home next week to face Grovetown.
