EDITOR'S NOTE: Below is a selection of responses shared by readers of MDJOnline.com in reaction to recent MDJ stories ...

MDJ debuts new Web site...

Christy Rosell wrote: Just wanted to congratulate you on the Web site upgrade. It functions excellently, and I can read the news faster on my iTouch now.

Brent Williams wrote: Wow! Love the new online MDJ. Way to go! The new MDJ Online is awesome. Having full page views makes it so much easier to read and enjoy the MDJ. Thank you.

Bob Andrews wrote: The new MDJ format is excellent!

Loyal Reader wrote: I love the new format. I travel 3-4 days a week for work. The E-edition is the perfect way for me to get the newspaper on the road. Keep up the good work MDJ.

Vote For Pedro wrote: I have today discovered the Story Sorter. If you could just add a "today's news" sort to that sorter, this new Web site could be used without the thoughts of suicide caused by the new menu/sub-menu mouse path game.

Won't pay wrote: Do not care for the new format - and although I liked keeping up with the happenings in Cobb since I move - I'm not interested enough for $65 in these troubled times ... oh... I forgot the economy is getting better!

Newspaper reader wrote: This is a fantastic program MDJ is offering us. But having breakfast at the kitchen table and reading the MDJ at the same time - unbeatable. I shall keep the newspaper. Thanks MDJ.

MDJ fan wrote: Congratulations MDJ. You hit a home run with your new Web site. I really look forward to more videos to go with local stories.

Mad One wrote: Looks good to me! It's definitely an improvement with a much more sophisticated layout. I was one of those that asked for a full online .PDF version and now you have it - or something very close. Excellent work for my "hometown" paper.

Past reader wrote: Way to go MDJ! Now you look like a real newspaper. Wait, I mean, now you look exactly like the AJC. Keep trying. One day you will realize that you could be a tremendous local paper. If only you would focus on the local news.

Anonymous wrote: Looks great, but understand that no one will pay for online content.

Anonymous234 wrote: I dislike this new design. You are trying to look like the AJC, and theirs looks terrible, too.

Bill Brannen Sr. wrote: The new website is great, have been reviewing your Web site for many years, it helps us remember old friends and a wonderful life we lived there.

Dave Welden wrote: The neatest feature is the new presentation of "Today's MDJ." From the Home page, click on the button at the upper left and it will take you to today's paper where you can leaf through, page-by-page, zoom and scan just as you would a real paper on your breakfast table. It is the best presentation method I've ever seen. Now, if we could only convince them to obtain their stories from sources other than AP, we'd be in fat city.

Ron in Acworth: Way to go MDJ! Love the new features, look and feel. Keep up the good work.

School board adds press conferences ...

Dad in Cobb wrote: A follow-up question to Superintendent Fred Sanderson would be "How can you allow a wife, Peggie Constantino, to be a second in line subordinate of her husband Steve Constantino?" Isn't that a conflict of interest? Why is that allowed?

Keep asking wrote: You are all on the right track with the Constantinos! Don't let up and keep asking questions about the two of them. Who do you think is behind a lot of the "ideas" that Fred has had in the past year? Steve and Peggie are bad for Cobb Schools and both of them need to go and go now! The more questions you ask about them, the more you will find out just what the two of them have been up to. Keep asking questions and demand answers! You won't believe what you find out. .Also, it is obvious to me and everyone else just what Ms. Cash is referring to when she says that McEachern has had a "population change."

Anonymous wrote: "The population has changed at McEachern." Way to try to justify promoting someone who didn't deserve it (nor is qualified for the new job). Sure McEachern High's demographics have changed, but Mrs. Constantino (and her predecessor, Rob Benson) ran off some incredible teachers in their time at McEachern. Didn't bother them, they only like "yes" people anyway. SAT scores went down while Benson was there, and it got him a promotion. Why not Constantino too? It is going to take years for McEachern to recover from the damage wrought by these two.

Ashamed for board wrote: I hate to admit it but reporter Jon Gillooly asks more and better questions than the entire Cobb school board.

School watcher wrote: Sanderson and (board chairman) John Abraham really danced around Gillooly's questions. This crowd just cannot shot straight.

Aaron wrote: The press conferences are great. They show the pointed, antagonistic nature of the school reporting of the MDJ and allow the whole board to react together to them.

Cobb SPED teacher wrote: Peggie Constantino is going to ruin what is left of CCPS special education just like she ruined McEachern HS. Once again, CCPS has decided to reward an underperforming principal.

John Boys' Watcher wrote: Hopefully Sanderson will be gone, sooner rather than later. While I am not a big fan of using the SATs to judge a school, I do believe this is a real opportunity to address the achievement gap. Sanderson has refused to address it in a sincere transparent manner. As for John Boy One (Abraham) he will be fine with the press conferences until he is put on the hot seat for his arrogance.

So definitely keep the menu/sub-menu mouse path game that "Vote For Pedro" so despises FIRMLY in place. We wouldn't miss Pedro comments if he decided to punch out. Not one tiny bit. Period.
