Inger Eberhart letter (in response to Mark Webb letter): Illegals' advocate trying to demonize his opponents
Mary J Marietta wrote - Ms. Eberhart should be very grateful to letter writer Mark Webb for the remarks he makes (on MDJonline.com) about her letter. He proves her point as well as she made it. Game over. Eberhart 100 - Webb zero. He would be funny if he weren't so sad and dangerous.
Old Vet wrote - Mr. Webb should know that not only Cherokee and Cobb are obeying the state law SB 529 by trying to stop rewarding illegals with a business license. Also Gwinnett, Hall, Acworth, Marietta, Smyrna. I wonder: Which laws does Webb approve of and would allow us to support with out being called names?
Drooly wrote - Golly, this Webb guy really has been sold a bill of goods. He makes no sense, over and over and over again. I enjoyed reading Inger Eberhart's letter, I hope to read more from her and I thank the newspaper for running both her and Webb. She helps to outline how wrong he is ... over and over and over.
Mark Webb wrote - Let me be crystal clear. It is the rhetoric of this debate (and others) that disgusts me, much as the rhetoric of racist hate groups is revolting to most Americans. The racist groups have embraced your cause. If you'd like to debate that, have at it; I'll just point you to hundreds, if not thousands, of Web sites and organizations that prove my point. I make no apologies for the undocumented, but if one looks at why they are here, it is clear that the business interests who hire them are central. And if you care to ask "What do we do now?" offer realistic solutions. Don't suggest mass deportation - or worse. And take an honest look at the impact of your SB529 on our First Amendment rights. You might be surprised at just what has been given up. As an example, individuals whose religious beliefs prohibit them from signing a sworn oath can not start a business in (at least) Cobb and Cherokee county, as that is required on the so-called citizenship affidavit.
Tom wrote - Our system is not broken, it is just not enforced. We cannot have either peace or prosperity unless we are a sovereign nation with secure borders. Thank you, Ms. Eberhart, for putting the needs of citizens before those of corporate facists and corrupt politicians. The Chamber of Commerce and the ACLU and SPLC are the enemies of our nation.
Vote For Pedro wrote - How dare you smear the people who smear the illegals, rather than the government that broke the immigration system!
Robert wrote - As an African-American who supports the equal application of American laws - including immigration laws - I am outraged at Webb's transparent adherence to the open borders mob's mindless and insulting talking points. His attempt to compare criminals who steal American jobs, wages and services to the sin of slavery is a step too far. A breath of fresh air! I am another African American who has had more than enough of these illegal alien apologists using the black slavery experience to defend illegal immigration. I was for ObamaCare before I started hearing that there was no verification on illegals getting acccess to increased coverage. Ms. Eberhart says it perfectly. Webb's letter was insulting.
American worker wrote - Thank goodness for Ms. Eberhart and her sanity. Reading letters from newspapers all over the nation, it is easy to see many others like the one from Webb. His sickening smearing of opponnets of illegal immigration and Obamacare is widespread and they all seem to contain the same silly talking points. As is they were all written by the same person. Or party. Hooray for Inger Eberhart and hooray for D.A. King.
John Litland Letter: Calling illegals 'illegals' does not 'dehumanize' them
Bill W Acworth wrote - Great letter, but constantly explaining to people like Webb that they are in the small fringe minority is a waste of time. Part of the reason they are where they are is that they cannot reason. We are lucky to have D.A. King in Georgia, as he has the courage to stand up to these nuts and to the ones in government and business.
MK wrote - It's just a crying shame. There are very few politicians that won't turn a blind eye when driving past illegals working on a road project, building a beautiful stone wall or preparing their plates on the kitchen line. Whether left or right, none of them will demand that the laws we already have on the books be enforced. In Georgia , we should be at Sonny Perdue's house every day! Why is he allowing Georgia's laws to be so flagrantly ignored and laughed at? D.A. King represents real Americans like Billy & Kathy Inman, whose life was destroyed when their only son was killed by an illegal who also left her in a wheelchair for life. Poor Billy & Kathy. I don't see any local news teams or the goverment rushing to help ease their pain or help them with their hospital and doctor bills.

City resident wrote - The $800,000 that the city paid, that's my city taxes at work. Thanks a lot those of you that were quilty of this!
Mrs. Boss Lady wrote - I'm glad that someone had the guts to make a stand and not be afraid. I've always said that what goes around comes around and that it was long over due.
