The celebration, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., is at the museum, at 30 Atlanta St. The evening will include entertainment by local band PRIME, as well as a silent auction.
With its ground breaking in the fall of 1909, the museum building originally housed the post office for 53 years and then the Marietta City Library until 1989.
During the last 20 years, MCMA has made its home in the building. Under the guidance of MCMA Board of Trustees and staff, who felt a deep responsibility to preserve and restore the grand historic structure, it has undergone several renovations and improvements, keeping it one of Marietta's premier architectural gems.
"The theme of the birthday celebration, part of Marietta's 175th Anniversary, is History, Restoration, Preservation in keeping with our role as caretaker of this fabulous example of architecture and local history," said MCMA Board of Trustees Member and auction chair, Marcy Griffin. "We are hoping to raise funds for the continued renovations and upkeep of this prized Marietta building."
The museum is home to exceptional works of American art, from the Revolution into the 21st century, generously bequeathed to the public. This art is in the form of remarkable paintings, sculptures and decorative art objects.
In addition to the permanent collection, MCMA hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year. Martinis and Music is a popular quarterly event at the museum, where the public has the opportunity to view the latest exhibit and often meet artists. Summer art camp is also offered to children in the community, along with adult art classes and open drawing.
For tickets to the celebration, call (770) 528-1444, ext. 14. The cost is $25 per person. Dress is country club casual. There will be a cash bar.

"We have endeavored to build community through art and are proud of the work that has been accomplished and our contribution to the city of Marietta and Cobb County," said Sally Macaulay, Director of MCMA.
