LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man was apparently crushed to death while doing mechanical work on a vehicle in his driveway.

Firefighters responded to a report of a person trapped under a vehicle around 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

The man, who was in his 40s, was unconscious and unresponsive when rescue personnel arrived. Crews called for air bag assistance to lift the vehicle off the man.

Authorities believe the vehicle's drive shaft became disengaged, causing it to roll down the driveway and pin the man underneath. A neighbor ran over to help and was able to keep the vehicle from rolling any farther.

The fire department couldn't release the victim's name because of privacy laws.
